I am trying to add a simple picture from my hard drive to the side bar via the Image Widget (Jetpack). Here are the steps I’m taking:
    1. Make sure image is in public folder of my dropbox account.
    2. Click “Share Link” in the Dropbox sub-menu.
    3. Open the widget in WordPress (.org), and paste the resulting URL into the Image URL box.
    4. Click “Save”
To my way of thinking, I should then be looking at a picture on the sidebar – but nothing is showing up, despite a valid URL that works when I put it into a browser window.

    Thoughts?

Disregard – problem solved. All I can say is NEVER change the Dropbox public folder name from “Public” to “Dropbox Public”. It messed up the URL and for some reason I was unable to get a sub-menu that said “Copy Public Link” after I changed the folder name. Once I changed it back I got that sub-menu, and was back in business.
