  • I’ve got 2 questions:
    1) If I upgrade to WP 2.1, will my blog go screwy?

Currently I have WP1.7 and my theme is Adreas04. Say I upload the 2.1. That ends up in a folder called WordPress 2.1, right? My current 1.7 WP folder is called “Can We Talk”. Do I change the name of the 2.1 to “Can We Talk”? Do I have to move everything from the 1.7 “Can We Talk” folder to the new 2.1 “Can We Talk” folder?

    2) Can I make the Andreas04 theme into an CMS (Content Management System)? That means, I want a static front page. Ideally, I would like an index on that front page where you can click and get to various categories of posts or the latest posts. I want that front page in the same theme because I really love it.

God, I sound moronic. I apologize. Oh, and in case you need to know http://canwetalk.ceconn.com

  • Too many questions for one thread…

    1. Maybe. Many blogs went crazy after update. If you don’t need any specific gizmo from 2.1 – stay with 2.0.7.

1a. Totally wrong idea how WP works. You never “change” the directory name (unless you want to screw up your own blog!). You replace the old WP files with the new ones; more exactly: delete the old ones and upload the fresh ones into the same server place, i.e. same directory!

    2. Search the forum and codex and you will find tons of hits for “static frontpage”

EDIT. Oh, and there is no WP 1.7 😉

Is it 2.07 I have, then. Sorry. It’s been a long day already.

    OK
