wp_query not returning results the first time

I’m using a theme that has custom posts and taxonomies. On the home page I have a search form with my custom taxonomies as dropdown filters. The first time I search with any of the filters selected or none selected, no results are returned. You can see it for yourself at offerbol.com Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, I’m a beginner with wordpress and being a java guy I know very little php.
