Support » Plugin: WP Tiles » 1.0 Plugin causes white text in post editor, no buttons, saves settings?

Ok so after sucessful use on my personal blog, i applied it to a community i run. but for some reason activating the plugin causes the post editor to mess up. the text box turns white, the buttons are gone, and it looks kinda weird. it seems to be stuck in text mode.

This happens even if wp-tiles is the only plugin active and returns no error logs.

I tried uninstalling and resetting the app but it seems to save the settings.

How can i completely uninstall this plugin? I think thats the first step to fixing this?

    Hi @iadagraca,

I’m sorry to hear that! Let’s try to figure out what’s causing this problem.
First of all, to clarify: are you saying that the bug persists, even after deactivating/uninstalling WP Tiles? There is no way in which WP Tiles can continue to do anything after this happened. So if this is the case, something must be wrong with your WordPress install. What theme do you have activated and what version of WordPress are you using?

To figure out why the editor isn’t working, load the edit page with the console open:
In FireFox or Chrome: Open the page and right-click anywhere on the page. Select Inspect Element. In the panel that opens, go to ‘Console’. Reload the page, and check for any errors coming up (in red).

Let me know what the output there is!

No I was saying the problem occurs only when the plugin is installed.

I have a theme built from underscores.me, it’s entirely custom beyond that.

I’m also using the latest stable version of wordpress.

I will try seeing what’s in the console tomorrow. Thank you for the reply.

thats all i get, seems no different than when the plugin is deactivated.

I think it might be a settings conflict but i can’t reset the settings.

If there’s a way to wipe it as a clean install that would be great.

If it helps my website is takuchat.com and you can register and see for yourself

I’m willing to help any way I can. This is a big problem and I can’t remove the plugin from my template right now (no Internet on desktop right now). Disabling the plugin causes the server to go down due to php errors, because the scripts are still in my template.

In this current state we can’t post easily.

    Hi @iadagraca,

I just registered for your site. Cool to see your WP community! Unfortunately though, I couldn’t post after registering. When I go to ‘New Post’ or ‘New Blip’, I get ‘Access Denied’.

If you can fix my permissions I will take a look to see what’s going wrong with the plugin!

    Mike

Whoa that’s not supposed to happen! Fixing it now!

    I’ve given you developer access.

    Any news?

Hi, I just had a look and found the problem. At least – I found where in WP Tiles the error lies. The large amount of posts on your website is causing WP Tiles to make too big a query. Tomorrow morning I will upload a new version that should solve this problem. Will keep you updated 🙂

    Mike

    Happy to hear that!

That seems to be a common problem with some things :P.

I’m looking forward to the update!

    Hi again,

Can you try the new version on GitHub? Download it here!
I haven’t had the chance to test it exhaustively, so I’m not updating the WP.org version yet. Let me know if the editor now works as expected!

    Mike

    Seems to work! Thank you!
