It was working for me until my hosting service automatically updated my site to 4.9.9 (it says has been tested to 4.8.8). I had to deactivate it because it was treating the href form “Link to an element with a specified id within the page (like href=”#top”)” as a broken link, plus those links were displaying with a “line-through”. It may be that an optional feature got turned on. I hope that the developer will test with it, and also make it work with 5.0, and provide an update soon.

I doubt there will be an update, I personally contacted one of the developers about this but no reply

This Plugin works fine so far, but it seems i have to seek plugin alternative before something happens, because it looks abandoned 🙁
Hi @oym @techforaging @81-1 @tripledm, here is the current situation:
I have put together all the patches around on Github I could find via the network analysis, including PHP7 fixes and transaction fixes (a lot of this was gathered by other developers, see the last link on the post for info). The plugin has not been maintained by what is now a unit of GoDaddy since about Q3 2017.
The Head of the patched Broken Link Checker github repo can be downloaded here if you want to try it:

Repo URL:

Please take a look at the issues I wrote up which illustrates good ideas that can be applied to this plugin:
https://github.com/HongPong/broken-link-checker/issues
Note this repo URL is subject to change – if i have to fork it i will change the URL. I already have a “cool name” in mind.
I have requested to take over managing this plugin:

If you support this, you can chime in there! Thanks for the vigilance 🙂
The plugin has been updated to be compatible with the latest PH and WP versions. We plan on keeping it running smoothly in the future.
Thanks for bringing this up and for being patient with us!
Cheers,
Nemanja
