I am experiencing a 504 Gateway Timeout error on my website after uploading two PDF files, updating Yoast SEO from version 24.1 to 24.2, and changing the administrative email address. The error occurs on both the front-end and back-end (admin panel) of the website.

    Here are the details:

    • Issue: 504 Gateway Timeout error when visiting the website or trying to log into the WordPress admin panel.
    • Recent Changes: Uploaded two PDF files via the WordPress media uploader. Yoast SEO plugin updated automatically from version 24.1 to 24.2. Changed the administrative email address for the WordPress site.
    • Error Message: “504 Gateway Timeout” – appears both on the front-end and when attempting to log into the admin panel.

504 error is likely a server related issue. Therefore, ask your host why the 504 is occurring.

Your error_log file may also explain it. So please check the error logs on your server. If you need help locating them, ask your hosting provider to help you with that.

    Try reviewing: https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-fix-the-504-gateway-timeout-error-in-wordpress/

    You may also try:
manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.
    – If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).`
