    So looking forward to having socket.io integrated! Any way to get my hands on a preview of it so I can start working on bootstrap 3 styling? – not to forget it’s going to be a plugin!!!

    Getting this badboy into my http://roots.io themes is going to totally transform the functionality and possibilities of my clients sites beyond belief – yes, sorry I’m a little amped about this release!

    Hi Shane — we don’t have anything available for download/self-hosted users just yet I’m afraid. We’re currently doing some testing with hosting things on WordPress.com, and once we’re happy with functionality there we’ll be slicing it out to self-hosted users as well.

    FWIW, the current version doesn’t include socket.io after all — it didn’t turn out to offer much benefit over polling for the primary way that o2 works. We’ll probably revisit that at some point, but it not a blocker for us at all.

    Any update on this? Really looking forward to it. Been using P2 but haven’t wanted to put too much time into an overhaul for our use with 02 on the horizon.

    Hi Matt, we don’t have an ETA on the launch of o2 for self-hosted sites, but you’re very welcome to take part in the o2 beta running on WordPress.com.
