# 0 byte file keeps getting created wp-admin/includes/error.php

 * Multiple sites belonging to one client, keep having wp-admin/includes/error.php
   created, and it’s zero bytes in length.
 * This of course triggers WordFence to send an alert.
 * A few of the things I’ve tried:
 * -Enabling WP and PHP error logging & disabling write in folder wp-admin/includes
   hoping to cause an error when the file is trying to be created (no errors or 
   logs generated)
    -grep for error.php -Setting theme to twentytwenty and disabling
   all plugins. Still happens
 * According to WordFence there are no other issues. Also scanned outside of WordPress
   folders.
 * I’m not sure where to look next.
 * Any advice would be appreciated

 * as there is no “error.php” file in wp-includes, I think we can assume you’ve 
   been hacked in some way.
 * Get a fresh cup of coffee, take a deep breath and carefully follow [this guide](https://wordpress.org/support/article/faq-my-site-was-hacked/).
   When you’re done, you may want to implement some (if not all) of [the recommended security measures](https://wordpress.org/support/article/hardening-wordpress/).
 * If you’re unable to clean your site(s) successfully, there are reputable organizations
   that can clean your sites for you. Sucuri and Wordfence are a couple.
