• Not really sure what to even call this issue…. lol!

Been building a site since Sunday last. First setup with Theme A. Began building me site, adding photos, writing, etc. Would often click on ‘visit site’ from the Dashboard. All was going smoothly….. almost.

I did a google search and when I found the site and opened it, none of me work appeared and it displayed the Twenty Seventeen theme. Odd, that. Although me Title and Tagline are there, nothing else.

Contacted the developing site for the theme I was using. No response. Ok, tried a different theme from a different developer. Theme B.

Activated, made some changes, …. googled… Same thing… Twenty Seventeen and none of me work.

Seems there is a disconnect somewhere and I have no clue where it might be.

    Ideas, anyone?

    Cheers!

Google takes a while before it recrawls your website & updates the search results. How long did you wait?

    4 days now.

Oh wait, I think I misread. I don’t think Google is relevant here. If your site isn’t opening with the correct theme, it won’t matter whether it is accessed by Google or another search engine. It’ll be an issue for everyone.

If that’s not the issue, can you re-explain the problem?

Not sure how to better explain. I just checked with MS Edge. Aye, same issue.

Everything I’ve done to build me site is not showing when I view the site from a search engine. It shows only a very basic site with only the Site Name and Tag line and a default theme.

Everything I’m doing to build the site is from the WP Dashboard.

    I hope that is a wee more clear…. 🙂

It feels like I haven’t clicked a ‘go live’ button somewhere. LOL!

Is it showing correctly when you access the website directly (without a search engine)?

If your meaning, when I physically type the address: http://scottishknightleather.com into the url bar, no it does not show correctly. It still shows a default website.

    Frustrating!

Could you check with your hosting providers to see if they’re caching your site – as in saving old versions of it for performance reasons.

Will do. Could take a while. They are a wee slow at times. Back soonest.

Host provider corrected everything. Seems the issue involved a sub-directory. All is now fine.

    Cheers!
