Getting Google Adsense to work

Hello, I’m trying to insert google adsense ads to my site: http://cheddarpath.com

I have gotten the sidebar ads to work, but when I try to insert an ad above or below my header, a space appears where the ad should be but no ad. Please help! Thank you.
