System cannot find install.php!!!

    I have just uploaded wordpress to my server. On the ftp it’s definitely there… But when I try to access any wordpress PHP files, including the install file, it comes up with an error:

    http://www.beijingwineclub.com/foodwine/wp-admin/install.php

    The system cannot find the path specified.

    However it lets me access non-php files:

    http://www.beijingwineclub.com/foodwine/readme.html

    I thought it might be something to do with permissions but my ftp server doesn’t recognise CHMOD for some reason and the permissions appear to be the same as those for other files which i can definitely access.

    Any suggestions?

    Hi dazsnow.

    I looked for a solution to the same problem you have.
    It’s sad to see a question answered a long time ago where no one has cared to answer. So I actually registered just to give you a solution that worked for me. Even though you have probably already solved the problem yourself or moved on.

    Anyhow, what I did was to edit the config-file and used the url to mysql supplied by my web hotel. Localhost does not work for me!

    After that change everything worked for me.
