The theme needs to be in wp-content/themes on your server. If the theme is available in the WP theme repository, you can just go to your admin panel under Appearance > Themes > Add New and do it that way. If it isn’t in the repository, you can use an FTP client (like FileZilla), or your web-host’s cPanel or file manager to upload the theme folder to the location mentioned above.

thank you guys for the quick reply. I guess I should of started off by asking, how do I even get wordpress to open? haha.. I’m sorry for the noobish, but figured there would be no better place to ask than here to pick your brains.

clubbinside, I did read that. it’s all foreign language to me at this point. I’m trying to get a more dumbed down version if at all possible. I’m still going through that tutorial, however.

also for example, when I go to setup my domain/server is godadddy a good site to go through? or are there any test ones I can try before I go live?
Many web hosts have a 1-click installer for WordPress. If you don’t have a host yet, you may be getting ahead of yourself. See this page for some basics: https://wordpress.org/hosting/

thank you @bill.. is there anyone to direct contact you for some advice? I’m aware I have to have PHP/MYSQL access.. I just liked godaddy and seemed pretty simple to use. I don’t mind having to manuall install wordpress.. But you suggest using one of the recommended ones?
I’m sorry but we keep all support confined to this forum. I’m not recommending any particular hosting service, but just providing a starting point for you. Many people use GD for hosting and I believe they may also have 1-click installation. Just make sure to search the forums for the names of your hosting candidates to see what others have experienced before making a final decision. Good luck!
