Since the latest update, when a user leaves a comments and has enabled post to facebook.

The comments used to have a post preview written along with the comment on the users facebook.

However, now it just displays the thumbnail and link.

How can I change it so that it shows the post preview again?

It seems like your issue is with the behavior of the Facebook Comments Box social plugin, not something specific to a WordPress plugin.

When trying to submit a support request, what do I need to put in the field Apps* – it says “param must be non-empty”.
