Child Theme Problem

I recently discovered child themes and they seem like a great way to learn css more but when I implemented one using my theme Volcano It didn’t transfer over some of the cool things about the theme. I saw a thread saying I should transfer over the css folder from my parent to my child but this did nothing. Here’s an example of what I mean:

Does anybody know what I’m doing wrong? Or is my theme not “child theme friendly”?
