v140104 not clearing old cache

    since the last update to v140104, WP is no longer serving the proper version of a modified category page until the cache is cleared manually

    page affected: 12bytes.org/category/world-news

    upon adding a new post to the “World News” category, the category page is not updated until the cache is cleared, despite the following messages…

    Quick Cache: detected changes. Found cache file(s) for the designated “Home Page” (auto-purging).

    Quick Cache: detected changes. Found cache file(s) for the designated “Posts Page” (auto-purging).

    the notice for the “Home Page” being purged baffles me a bit since the home page is, in my case, a static page that rarely gets updated, yet QC always detects changes and purges it (apparently)

    i also see that QC is detecting changes to the Posts and Home pages whenever a static page is updated…

    @atomizer Thank you for reporting these issues.

    The Category cache issue is a known issue that I’m working on. See https://github.com/WebSharks/Quick-Cache/issues/57

    Regarding the “Home Page” and “Posts Page” caches clearing when you update a static page: it’s entirely possible that the home page contains a menu where this new static page should appear, in which case it would be necessary for the “Home Page” (and potentially the “Posts Page”) to be cleared.

    regarding the Home and Posts page cache clearing, the static page i was working was not new – only updated – and no links in any menu would have changed

    i’m also seeing the following 2 notices when i simply go to edit a static page, before actually editing it…

    Right. But Quick Cache doesn’t know that, so it takes the safe route of clearing the cache just in case. Quick Cache could, of course, be far more intelligent about this and that’s what I plan to fix when I fix the category issue mentioned earlier.

    I’m unable to reproduce this. I tried opening an existing Page on my test installation for editing (without actually editing or updating the Page) I did not get any messages about the “Home Page” cache or “Posts Page” cache being cleared. It’s only when I actually update the page that I get that message.

    i wonder if the latter issue – page change notice before editing a page – might not have something to do with revisions?

    i have not yet been able to reproduce it reliably, but i’ll keep a check on it

    Hello,

    The latest version of Quick Cache (v140605) includes several new features that improve how Category/Tag and other archive views associated with a post are cleared when a Post is published:

    New Feature: Auto-Purge “Author Page”. When a single Post/Page is changed in some way, Quick Cache can also purge any existing cache files for the associated Author Page. See Dashboard -> Quick Cache -> Plugin Options -> Clearing the Cache. (This option is enabled by default; disabling this requires Quick Cache Pro.)
    New Feature: Auto-Purge “Category Archives”. When a single Post/Page is changed in some way, Quick Cache can also purge any existing cache files for the associated Category archive views. See Dashboard -> Quick Cache -> Plugin Options -> Clearing the Cache. (This option is enabled by default; disabling this requires Quick Cache Pro.)
