Hi, this isn’t currently an option but I will try to get a new version out within the next day or two that will allow recursive directory scanning. Please stay tuned.
This is actually more difficult to achieve than it would seem. I’ll see what I can do, but since it may require an extensive overhaul of the plugin, I can’t make any promises. I’ll let you know if I find a solution.
uau! Thanks Thom,
I would be glad to help/assist you if I’m able to.
Please let me know if I can.
I’m actually looking for something very similar. FileAway is one of the best file display plugins I have found, although like Alan I would like to see content inside other sub-directories. Preferably, I wish that if I had a folder that had 4 files and 2 subdirectories – it would list 6 entries – clicking on a sub-directory would regenerate a new list with all the files in that new sub-directory with a ‘back-to-parent’ option up the top.
I’ve been searching and searching and cannot find another plugin that does this easily.
I am also interested in this… is there any chance this is happening?
Unfortunately, with sincere apologies, I don’t think I’m going to be able to do this. If there’s someone out there who wants to try toodify my code to make this work, I would welcome that, and make you a co-author. But it’s beyond my meager capabilities at the moment. I’ve spent about twenty hours trying different strategies, all ending in abject failure.
Amazing file, but I agree, this needs the subdirectory addition. It has everything I want except for that.
Also, is there a way to choose the path of the files? It seems it automatically takes my base where wordpress is, but my files are on another webserver.
Rupak, I see your page but there’s no download link anywhere that I can find. How/where can I get a look at your modified version of the plugin?
I am REALLY interested as well.
I am REALLY interested as well !
Yes, subdirectories would make this the PERFECT directory lister! I’d be happy to shoot a donation your way if this were to get implemented… or possibly even just for trying!
We have over 3,000 files (many years’ worth of PDF’s) spread throughout almost 400 folders/subfolders (like I said, MANY years’ worth split into yearly subfolders). So while File Away is excellent, for our situation we’d still need to create almost 400 pages – one for each folder/subfolder – and then list the contents of each one.
Rupak’s solution looks like a start, in that you can list PAGES as “folders” inside File Away. But from his description on his page, it sounds like you still need to create a page per folder and fake its appearance as a folder; those child pages still need to be made. If there’s ANY way around this, we’d gladly pay for it!
(EDIT: I just saw your post from a few weeks ago… thanks for trying!)
Nutlog, I will take another crack at it in a few months, but at the moment I’m swamped in contract work. It’s definitely something I know would be helpful for everyone (including my own work), but so far I haven’t been able to get my head around it. I’ll try again when my plate isn’t full.
I just wanted to let everyone know that I have successfully incorporated recursive file discovery/display into the plugin. WAIT! I still have to add that option to the modal, and update the readme. 😉
Look out for version 1.5 a little later today. Right now I’m going for a smoke break.
Wow! A thousand times thank You!
There will be a donation coming your way very soon 😉
Version 1.5 is now up. Happy recursivizing.
