Can’t Install Widgets with 2.0.3!
-
It appears 2.0.3 is incompatible with Widgets. I created a brand new install of WordPress 2.0.3 and added the Widgets plug-in, but it does *NOT* appear under the Presentation menu. This is a *clean* install of WordPress with no other plug-ins, themes, or modifications of any kind, and Widgets are not working with Kubrik.
What gives? (Thanks, guys!)

I don’t know if this is true or not but you need to redownload the widgets plugin and activate it via the plugins menu.
I downloaded the latest versions of both WordPress and the Widgets plug-in (as of 11 p.m. Eastern Standard Time tonight), but Widgets still isn’t appearing under the Presentation menu.
As I said, this was a completely *clean* install.
Okay, to close the loop on this, I got my answer:
It turns out this is *not* a problem with WordPress 2.0.3, but a problem with my theme, K2 r167, which doesn’t support widgets yet. (The previous release of K2 *did* support widgets.) This has apparently been a known problem for some time, and I’m just a bit behind the curve. 😉
If anyone has similar questions around this, read this thread in the K2 support forums:

Thanks, folks!
OK, I’m getting a weird one, and perhaps I need to start an entirely new thread to get this solved.
Widgets installs fine on the new version of WordPress, but then when I go to the Widgets configuration page, the AJAX appears to be all screwed up. The Configure button appears in the upper right-hand corner of the screen and I’m unble to move any of the widgets at all. I presume that this is because the entire screen is being recognized as a widget.
I’m going to redownload the Widgets plugin as has been suggested and see if that works or not.
I have a bizarre problem.
Simply: I cannot get the menu to appear. Here’s what I’ve done:
1. downloaded and installed the latest widget files.
2. Widgetized my theme (sidebar.php and functions.php)
3. Activated the plugin and some widgets
4. Swore at my computer because the menu didn’t appear. Then, thinking maybe I was messing something up, I…
5. Copied the updated files to the Default (kubrick) and Classic themes from the widgets install.
6. Switched to those themes in Presentation.
7. Swore at my computer because the menu still didn’t appear.…I have no idea what’s going on or even where to begin. It just isn’t working.
Suggestions?
PS: I’m actually using 2.02 but I didn’t want to start a new thread for it.
Ok, so I solved my personal problem — it looks like the “Theme Switcher” extension conflicts. When I deactivated it sidebar widgets turned on.
…when I go to the Widgets configuration page, the AJAX appears to be all screwed up. The Configure button appears in the upper right-hand corner of the screen and I’m unble to move any of the widgets at all.
Make *sure* that you put the scriptaculous folder that comes with the widgets plugin into wp-includes/js. The folder must be there, not just the contents of the folder.
