HTML5 input types?

    There was a thread that was started two years ago, and closed without resolution one year ago (with recent “me too” type posts still in it), asking if there would be support added for HTML5 input types.

    I would like to reopen this conversation. Being able to use an email input type for contact forms that are expected to be used on mobile platforms is important, because it tips the OS off to provide a keyboard with the @ symbol available on the top level. Etc.

    I’ve been using CF7 for quite a long time, but I’m searching around for alternatives at this point. I don’t understand why this has languished for so long. I may be missing something, but it seems like a pretty straightforward addition to the code.

    What is the status of this request?

    I’ve seen those old threads too and agree that it would be great if HTML5 input types were added to this fine plugin.
