Want to add sidebar all pages w/twentyeleven & marketpress

I use twentyeleven theme with marketpress plugin.
I would like sidebar on all pages which is easy if creating a page as twentyeleven allows template choices when creating/editing page (default, showcase or SIDEBAR template).
Problem is marketpress products and pages must pull from default page as I don’t have the page template choices available.
If I add ‘<?php get_sidebar(); ?>’ to page.php it then pulls in the sidebar, but the main content doe not slide over to make room for it.

I also tried to copy everything from the sidebar-page.php to page.php, but that too ends up creating a product page that has a sidebar, but the sidebar is overlapping the content.

If you have any ideas for getting the page.php to have a sidebar without overlapping the content I’d greatly appreciate it.
