I’m experiencing a mass IP blocking issue with the Security Optimizer.

As seen in the attached screenshot, dozens of different IPs are being blocked at exactly the same minute (2026-05-18 09:51), one after another. There are more than 100 per minute, and it has been happening for several days now.

This is happening repeatedly and generating a large number of automatic blocks. Could you please advise if there is a recommended configuration, a limit of blocks per minute, or if this could be a false positive / overly sensitive setting?

    Hello @eduardoreoli,

IP addresses are blocked automatically by the Security Optimizer only if they make multiple failed login attempts on the website. The number of failed login attempts is controlled by the “Limit Login Attempts” setting in the “Login Security” section of the plugin, and by default it is set to “5”. This means that if an IP address makes more than 5 failed login attempts, it will be blocked automatically by the plugin:

That said, if there are multiple entries from unknown IP addresses in the “Blocked” tab of the Activity Log within a short period of time, then your website is most likely under attack, and you should take extra steps to protect it, such as blocking IPs at server level, changing the login URL to a custom one, or using a proxy service with brute-force protection.

On the other hand, if the blocked IP addresses are known to you, then either the “Limit Login Attempts” setting is too low, or there may be an issue with the website’s login page that is creating false-positive requests.

If you are a SiteGround customer, you can contact us so we can look into this further.

    Best Regards,
