Best search method for WP website

Looking for advice. Now completing development requirements for a non-commercial data driven WP website containing information about more than 3000 “items”. Each item has a name, a description, a few fields for characterization, location, and a field with suitable keywords for the item. The site should provide a search capability to find any or all items that matches a search criteria. Aside from entering a search word the user can add “filters” to narrow the search to a specific topic. Can someone recommend a “search engine” that can be used for this purpose?
