Hi @carrie54
Seems like your downloaded file was damaged or incorrect.
In such case I’d highly recommend you to upload your backup manually.
Please make sure that your backup is visible on the backups list at the site where you made the backup. Then click on Download icon.
Once you save it to your local PC, you can use FTP or try our upload area below backups list (at your site where you want to restore it).
You can find path for FTP upload directly under upload area.
Let me know if that solves your issue 🙂
Thank you!
I tried that. I downloaded the file to the computer then uploaded it with the plugin but when I went to restore it the process got stuck at 58% for 14 hours. It was converting data base files into partial files. I tried again after reading your response and at 58% that process started again. Any suggestions? I suppose I try the whole process over and make a new file.

Hi @carrie54
My apologies for the delayed reply.
Could you please send me the URL to that backup via e-mail:

Your site probably can’t handle the size of your database at once, I’ll convert your database files in the backup to smaller batches and optimize if where I can.
You can also try to do it on your own, simply use “Advanced DB Cleanup” plugin on the website you want to migrate, then modify query output: https://prnt.sc/1trxucl (set this value to 80 on both sites). Once you do that make new backup and try to restore it again, uploading the same way.
Please also include URL to this topic 🙂
Thank you!
ok, I have been messing with this for a couple days. After cleaning the database using the plugin you suggested (thanks!) I was able to get the migration to run. Unfortunately I had a critical error occur. The Local host I was using was Mamp. I had troubles with getting past the fatal error. So for S&G I tried the migration on local by flywheel. Everything appears to be fine. Things like sidebars and headers need to be redone but other than that everything seems to have moved over ok.
Just because I like to slam my head into a wall repeatedly, I tried making a new instance on Mamp. I got the migration to go but got the critical error again. This time I was able to rename the plugin folder thus deactivating the plugins. As I reactivated them I found that it was my foo gallery and foo box plugins that were the problem. I tried deleting and reinstalling but that didn’t work. Thought you might like to know this for future reference.
My remaining question is: Is it normal for the header images and sidebars to have to be redone when doing migrations? In both local by flywheel and Mamp these needed to be redone.

Hi @carrie54
When you do migration it’s good to have as close as possible mirrored server settings as well. If you’re migrating from Windows Server to Linux it’s very difficult task for WordPress as well for our plugin.
I highly recommend you our sandbox platform: https://tastewp.com
You can test here your backups or even prepare changes and test them on another testing site before doing it on your live.
If you need more space here for such task, simply contact us via TasteWP e-mail 🙂
Issues with heading and navigation are known to us and we work on solution for this kind of issue, it happens on small amount of themes which uses different methods for saving their settings or modifies default WP customizer.
In any case I am happy that it finally worked for you 🙂
Let me know when you will need any further help in future 🙂
Thank you!
