My website is completely broken

    So something I’ve done today has completely broken my website… as in nothing displays on an incognito window. My theme is Hestia but I’m using the free version.

    A few things that have happened are:

    1. Blue host changed the A records to point to blue host servers from cloudflare.

    2. I inserted some code from mailchimp into the Theme editor, header php files following their instructions. I have since deleted what I inserted, but the site has not reverted back to what it was like before.

    Right now, in the customise editor the site displays as it should, but not so in a normal browser. And in an incognito window, the pages are completely blank so I’m thinking its just using cache files.

    Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be the cause and possible fixes?

    I’d really appreciate any help.

    Hi @ashleydavies1,

    Please try to clear your browsing cache, deactivate all the plugins and then reactivate them one by one to make sure that there aren’t any conflicts. Also, check server log for errors. If you don’t know where to find error log, the hosting provider can help with that.

    When you make changes to CSS and PHP files of the theme please use a child theme: https://docs.themeisle.com/article/14-how-to-create-a-child-theme to avoid things like this to happen.

    I seem to have fixed the issue and will for sure use child themes from now on!
