I installed the plugin a few days ago, and setup 6 social media accounts, linked to the plugin. Facebook (page), Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr, and Bloglovin’ … The first 2-3 posts, the plugin worked perfectly. I would go to Posts & Sharing, find the post I wanted to share, click the button to share it. Then Blog2Social would list the social accounts, and show a green checkmark next to each as it established a connection. Then I would click the Share button, and wait. And finally it would display the list of social media sites and show it had completed posting to each. Perfect. Loved it!

Then… it started showing the list of social sites, after sharing, displaying a red X in a circle with the message: Your post could not be posted. … on all 6 of the social sites. I then checked the social sites, and though it took a minute on one or two, it still completed posting to all of them. This seemed awkward, but I resigned myself to be ok with it showing an error, as long as it did what I needed it to do.

Then tonight, I created a new post, and did all that jazz, shared it, and it showed all 6 social sites with the same error message as before, only this time, it failed to post to 4 of the 6 sites. It successfully posted to Facebook, and Twitter, but nothing showed up on the others.

I gave it about 10 minutes to show up, and finally went back into Blog2Social, selected the post, unchecked Facebook and Twitter, and shared the post again. Again it showed the error message, and this time it made it to Pinterest, Bloglovin’ and Tumblr, but failed to make it to Instagram. It’s been another 10-15 minutes now, so I am finally posting here about the issue.

I read a previous support post where you directed the user to look under Blog2Social > Posts & Sharing > Notifications for any error messages. I have looked there and there is nothing pertaining to any of this. There is one error there, from one of my first post attempts to Tumblr days ago, saying the image wasn’t accessible. Nothing else.

I don’t believe I should be seeing the failed messages to begin with, especially if it is succeeding, but now it’s actually failing. Anything you can do to help would be appreciated.

Here is an image of the fail messages (this was from the first retry, with 4 social sites selected): https://www.dropbox.com/s/qwywtc0ddgmmsfw/Blog2Social-Fail-1.jpg?dl=0

Here is an image of the Troubleshooting Tool info, if that helps any: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2wjnl4es27l9386/Blog2Social-Troubleshooting-Tool-1.jpg?dl=0

P.S. I use roughly 10 or less hashtags (post tags that get converted) on any of my posts. I am also not posting a bunch of posts, in quick succession. So I doubt this is an issue. And since it worked perfectly the first few times, then started all of this, it seems more likely that there is some kind of broken buffering, or an issue with the Blog2Social server?

I have to assume these posts are going to Blog2Social, and Blog2Social is posting them, since the original configuration was granting Blog2Social permission to post to all of these social sites. That and since I know Facebook requires a lot of jumping through hoops for an individual to automate posting to their site, I am guessing these are routing through Blog2Social’s approved Facebook App ID.

So is there some kind of overload on Blog2Social’s server that is causing the plugin to timeout while waiting on confirmation, then showing “Your post could not be posted”, and some of the posts, in buffer on your server, get lucky and get posted?

I still think the plugin is excellent in it’s design and functionality, but ultimately useless if it doesn’t work, or is unreliable. I appreciate any assistance you can give. Thank you!

    Hello @allanriddle ,

Thank you for reaching out and taking the time to send this very detailed description.

I have tested posting to our test accounts on Facebook (page), Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr, and Bloglovin’ and it worked.

If posting takes too long this is related to a temporary issue on a certain network or the server’s upload speed.

As you described before, you could post to your social media channels with Blog2Social. Nevertheless, you received the notification “your post could not be posted” for some other posts. If you receive this message from the network, although your posts have been shared, this is related to a slow upload time of the server the moment the data of your social media posts is transmitted to your accounts.

If the notification that “your post could not be posted” only occurs for some networks, but not for all, this is related to the content you like to post. Please make sure, that your blog content is always available from the outside so that it can be posted to your social networks and that it meets all the requirements of the different networks.

If the feedback from the social media network takes too long, Blog2Social receives the information “The post could not be posted” while transmitting the data. please make sure to increase the upload speed of your server.

I just tried again, for the third or fourth time to share a post to Instagram, and it failed. Only trying to share it to Instagram, since this is the one social site that has failed out of the 6 social sites, for the last post I have made.

First attempt succeeded to Facebook and Twitter, Second attempt made it to Pinterest, Bloglovin’ and Tumblr, and Third & Fourth attempts were just Instagram alone and it has failed both times, or 4 times total.

    This is the post: https://ayamenakamura.com/keep-looking-up/

I appreciate your time in checking on this.

    Hello @allanriddle,

Thanks for the reply and the further information.

I have tested sharing the blog url you have sent to me on our Instagram account and it failed. The reason why this didn’t work is that the size of the image is too big (1920 x 1920 pixels). Please, reduce the size of the post’s picture and try again.

In the following link you find an overview of the perfect size for the different image formats on Instagram: https://colorlib.com/wp/size-of-the-instagram-picture/

Thank you for investigating the problem. I looked at the link you sent, and reduced my image to the recommended 1080×1080 pixels, which resulted in an image file size of 1.2mb instead of the original 3mb. The post still failed to post to Instagram. So I went ahead and dropped the quality of the image, to a file size of 600k, and updated the WP Post with this image, and it succeeded in posting to Instagram. I will have to fiddle with this to find the best quality at this size that will post successfully to all social sites, but at least now I know where the issue lies.

Thank you very much for your assistance and have a wonderful day!
    Cheers,
    ~Allan
