Cannot upload media to local server

Hi I am having problems with uploading images to my blog. I am on a Mac OSX and using XAMPP Control to create a local server, I get the message (Missing a temporary folder) after I try with the Flash uploader, and when I use the browser it seems to get stuck. I have reinstalled WP twice now and that did not work. And I have also created a folder and path in the Miscellaneous Settings: XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/wordpress/wp-content/uploads, this did nor work either. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
