Hi @fivedesign,
I will let Matthias reply to you about this, as I don’t know the internals of the plugin very well. But what I know is that those shortcuts are references to the original files. They created when you add an image is a second folder (or collection?).
Just to help Matthias in advance: how did you become aware of those shortcuts? Did you disable RML?
A little advice though: avoid using those shortcuts directly. I had a talk with Matthias yesterday and it seems like they might go away one of these days (though I am sure he will make some kind of migration)

Hi Jordy,
How I became aware of them? They were automatically added when I updated to the latest version of your WP/LR Sync plugin and then followed the instructions to replace the old extension with this plugin. I didn’t do anything out of the ordinary and most of my photos are only present in one collection at the time.
Fact is that I see every photo at least twice under “All Files” in WordPress’ media library / the RML – one “normal” and one with an arrow (shortcut). When I click on WPLR Sync folder/album, however, I see ONLY the shortcuts.
That means that when I am creating a post and then set a featured image and click on one of the folders/albums because I know that the photo is in that album, it only shows me the shortcut. I can add it and it seems to work just fine, but if I want to select the “normal” photo, then I can only do that when selected “All Files” on the left. Do I make myself clear?
I see perfectly what you mean. Matthias actually shared this with me yesterday: https://github.com/matzeeable/wplr-rml/issues/2. So he is aware of the issue. I have sent him a message asking him to come on this forum to help you. I am sure he will. Meanwhile, I suggest that you avoid using those shortcuts directly.
PS: I am not sure if you know, but even though I am the developer of WP/LR Sync, I didn’t participate in WP/LR Sync Folders. However, I really want the extensions to work nicely 🙂

Yeah I know, Jordy. Thanks for your help.
Hi Patrick!
Thanks to Jordy that he notified me via Slack but for any reason I do not get any mail when a new support thread is created. (1 Minute later writing this) Just found the button “Subscribe to this plugin” for the support thread so I hope I get emails now. 🙂
As Jordy already mentioned I have started a GitHub issue here: https://github.com/matzeeable/wplr-rml/issues/2#issuecomment-443831311 and I decided to go away from the shortcuts for the synchronization. I hope to get this done before 24th December.
I have now worked the complete afternoon to get the synchronization work better. The new code finds currently place in decrease-shortcuts-#2 branch. I have to admit that I did a little crap with the previous synchronization. It’s true that you don’t want to create a shortcut for every relation. Since I have received this feedback several times now, I had to change something here.
The new synchronization now moves the Lightroom files to the respective folder. Only a shortcut will be created as long as this is necessary (putting the same image in multiple collections):

Matthew 🙂

Cool, thanks Matthew!
I still don’t fully understand the reasons for these shortcuts, but I very much appreciate that it is possible to have the same photo in multiple collections synced to RML via WP/LR Sync. It makes it easier to add the same photo to different pages.
New things sometimes need a little more time to work out – I understand that. And I appreciate the hard work of both of you!
P.S. I also don’t get e-mail notifications for updates in this forum. Even with the checkbox selected.
Hi again!
I have now finished the new version and if you want you can test it here before I release it: https://github.com/matzeeable/wplr-rml/issues/2#issuecomment-445018922

Matthew 🙂
