my blog does not loading

i am new to wordpress which i just installed on localhost in a separate wordpress directory, after a smooth install when i selected the default theme the preview shows ‘index of /wordpress’ and same is displayed when i click on ‘visit site’ on the dashboard….how should i load my blog???….please help
