WPP Ninja – Bootstrap Gallery

This plugin turns the WordPress Gallery into a responsive one using Twitter Bootstrap. It uses the Magnific Popup to open the images in a responsive lightbox.

  • Fully responsive across desktop, tablet and mobile devices
  • No need to learn any new functionality for adding galleries to your website
  • Supports existing caption functionality inside of WordPress
  • Best of all, it’s 100% Bootstrap
  • Uses jQuery Magnific popup for the lightbox

Love it? Hate it? Why not rate it?

  • The Plugin modifies the settings inside of WordPress to only show options that will work with a responsive design.
  • You won’t notice the difference when galleries are inserted.
  • Example of a Bootstrap Gallery, even captions work!
  • Lightbox example of photo with caption.

This section describes how to install the plugin and get it working.

  1. Upload wppninja-bootstrap-gallery to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory
  2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
  3. Add a gallery to your Post / Page / or custom post like you normally would
  4. Let the magic begin!

Do I need Twitter Bootstrap pre-installed in my theme for this to work?

Yes, you will need it to be installed.

Can I change the default image size?

Yes, you can, just select the alternative image size from the size drop down menu in the WordPress Gallery manager.

I use a different lightbox, can I disable Magnific Popup?

Unfortunately the Magnific Popup is hardcoded into the plugin. Please let me know if it causes any issues.

A Must Have Plugin!

This plugin is a must have for anyone using Bootstrap with their WordPress theme. I use it on all website that I build as it is a quick and easy way to make the gallery responsive.

My only gripe is that there are a few things that i feel should be implemented as default, like image alt tags for instance. If you are a competent developer then it doesn’t take much to add the missing parts, however it would be nice for them to come as standard. Support and updates for this plugin has appeared to come to a halt over the last couple of years, which is a shame as with a few tweaks it could even better than it already is.

All in all it is a great little plugin and i recommend it to anyone!

Very simple, but does exactly what it needs to do. I use it on for a portfolio site and it’s really easy to use.

Worked just as described

I really like how this plugin works natively with the default WordPress galleries, rather than creating a whole new interface and shortcode for the gallery.
