## Description

Use an illustration or branded cover in your product catalog while keeping screenshots
or other images on the product page.

Two independent controls are available in the classic product editor:

 * Catalog image: choose or upload an image through the WordPress Media Library.
It replaces the image in classic WooCommerce product loops, including shop pages,
categories, product shortcodes, related products and upsells.
 * Hide featured image in product gallery: use the first valid gallery image as
the main image and exclude the featured image from the classic gallery. If there
are no other valid gallery images, the featured image remains visible.

Both options are disabled by default. Removing the catalog image restores normal
catalog behavior. Product image assignments are never rewritten by the frontend.
Cart, checkout, order and email images are not replaced.

The plugin adds no frontend scripts, styles, tracking, external requests or settings
pages.

#### Compatibility scope

Requires WooCommerce 8.0 or later. This release targets the classic WooCommerce
product editor, product loops and gallery templates. Your theme must use the standard
WooCommerce loop hooks and product image APIs.

The block-based Product Collection and Product Gallery, the new product editor,
and third-party gallery replacements are not supported in this release. Variation-
specific images retain WooCommerce behavior and can replace the main gallery image
when a variation is selected. AJAX variation galleries are not altered.

    > Add New > Upload Plugin.
 2. Activate WooCommerce, then activate this plugin.
 3. Edit a product in the classic product editor.
 4. Find the Catalog & gallery images box in the sidebar.
 5. Select a catalog image, enable the gallery option, or use both.
 6. Update the product.

## FAQ

### Can I use only a catalog image?

Yes. Leave the hide-featured-image option unchecked. The single-product gallery
stays unchanged.

### What happens if the gallery is empty?

The featured image stays visible. Deleted and non-image attachments are skipped.

### Does this replace my product images in the database?

No. The plugin stores two separate product metadata values and changes presentation
only.

### Does it work with every theme and product block?

No. This release supports standard classic WooCommerce templates and hooks. Blocks
and third-party galleries require separate integrations.

### What happens when I deactivate or delete the plugin?

Normal WooCommerce image behavior returns. Product settings and media attachments
are preserved so that reinstallation does not lose your selections. To clear a product’s
settings, remove its catalog image and uncheck the gallery option before deleting
the plugin.
