This plugin adds a basic<\/em> ecards module to your Wordpress site.\nIt's still in the early stages of development, but works as\nadvertised.<\/p>\n\n\n

  1. Upload ecards.php<\/code> to the \/wp-content\/plugins\/<\/code> directory<\/li>\n
  2. Activate the plugin through the 'Plugins' menu in WordPress<\/li>\n
  3. Go to Manage > Ecards<\/em> to upload your first ecard<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n

    Actually these questions are not asked frequently. I am just making them\nup. I just figure you might have these questions. If you have any real\nones, make my day and drop a comment either on the Wordpress plugin\ndirectory or on www.spacebabies.nl\/ecards\/.<\/p>\n\n

    Where are the ecards stored?<\/h4>\n\n

    They are stored as Posts in your Wordpress database. They are actually\na type of attachment.<\/p>\n\n

    What about abuse and spam?<\/h4>\n\n

    Abuse and spam are a problem and this plugin is trying to deal with it.<\/p>\n\n

    It has built-in protection againt spambots who are roaming the web and\nsubmitting forms like demented zombies. (did I really use demented zombies\nin a FAQ? guess so)<\/p>\n\n

    It also checks the fields rigorously for valid e-mail syntax.<\/p>\n\n

    However at this stage it does not offer a captcha field (one of those\nimages you have to decypher). I will probably add one of those in the\nfuture, but we'll see how it goes. If spam is a problem for you, do\nlet me know.<\/p>\n\n

    What's planned for the future?<\/h4>\n\n

    Lots of stuff.<\/p>\n\n

    I will use PHPMailed instead of the built-in php support for sending\nemail. PHPMailer is an off-the-shelf component for emailing that's more\nsecure and versatile.<\/p>\n\n

    The list of ecards (sent\/pending) will also be displayed in a future\nversion, allowing you to monitor the plugin.<\/p>\n\n

    Support for your existing Wordpress users is planned too, so they don't\nhave to enter their name and email address.<\/p>\n\n\n

    Usage<\/h3>\n

    After you have installed the plugin, a new submenu will appear\nin the Wordpress 'Manage' menu. Go there and click the 'add a new ecard'\nlink.<\/p>\n\n

    This presents a screen where you can select a file on your computer\nto upload to your website. You should select image files only, such as\njpg, gif or png. This plugin does not resize your image, so make sure\nit fits in your page design.<\/p>\n\n

    Back in the 'Ecards' screen in the Manage menu, you will see a\nthumbnail of your ecard. Above it is the ID. Use this ID in your post\nor page to present the ecard.<\/p>\n\n

    Simply type [Ecard=nn]<\/code> in any Page\/Post and the ecard with that ID\nwill appear.
