A simple function call \nautomatically generates links to files in a given directory. Adding new links is then a \nmatter of uploading files into this directory and does not need further interaction with \nWordPress. Optionally you can also add descriptions to the links and configure the html.<\/p>\n\n<p>Features<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n<li>Works with posts and pages<\/li>\n<li>Nearly no configuration (one configuration variable!!!)<\/li>\n<li>Automatically generates links to files and wraps them in list items or a html table<\/li>\n<li>Multiple download sources within one post or page<\/li>\n<li>Files can be sorted either by name or by modification time<\/li>\n<li>Generates links for every occurrence of \u201cfile name\u201d in a post or page text<\/li>\n<li>Supports link descriptions<\/li>\n<li>Include\/Exclude patterns support<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<!--section=installation-->\n<p>This section describes how to install the plugin.\n<br \/><br \/>For <strong>complete instructions<\/strong> on how to perform the installation, please see\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fabiobernasconi.com\/code\/autodownload\">Autodownload<\/a> homepage.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>API change in version 1.4 and above!<\/strong> Autodownload now provides only one callable \nfunction <code>ad_filesList<\/code> and a new function argument syntax. For backward compatibility \nthough, the old functions can still apply and need not to be updated.<\/p>\n\n<ol>\n<li>Download autodownload from the wordpress plugin central<\/li>\n<li>Unpack the archive and upload it to your WordPress plugins directory \n(usually <code>wp-content\/plugins<\/code>)<\/li>\n<li>[optional] If you want to change the default download root directory \n(it defaults to <code>wp-content\/<\/code>) then go to the Autodownload options page and change it<\/li>\n<li>In any post or page you want to add links to files you must call <code>ad__filesList<\/code>.\nThe results of this call can be configured with parameters. A function call is always \nenclosed in a HTML comment. Please refer to the \n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fabiobernasconi.com\/code\/autodownload#table\">Autodownload<\/a> homepage \nfor a list of available parameters and their meaning. <\/li>\n<li>[optional] If you want to add a description to the links either add a file named \n   ad_descritions.desc (the first entry refers to the first file, the second entry to the \nsecond file, etc.) in the directory where your files reside or, for each file in the \ndirectory, create a text file with the equal name but with extension <code>.desc<\/code> \n(i.e. <code>myFile.tar.gz<\/code> -&gt; <code>myFile.tar.gz.desc<\/code>).
