Honest Site Text Updater finds every place the old text appears and shows you each one before anything changes.<\/p>\n\n<ol>\n<li>Type what to find and what to replace it with, and click <strong>Find matches<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Check the list. Each place shows the text before and after, with a link to edit it. Untick anything you want to keep.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Replace<\/strong>. Your site keeps a copy of everything it changes, so you can undo it later.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<h4>What makes it different<\/h4>\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>You see every change first.<\/strong> Nothing changes until you have looked at the list and pressed Replace. There is no \"dry run\" setting to remember.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Undo is free.<\/strong> The last 10 changes can be undone with one click. Undo only puts back what this plugin wrote: if you edited a page afterwards, your edit is kept.<\/li>\n<li><strong>It finds web addresses in every form.<\/strong> Page builders such as Elementor store addresses as <code>https:\\\/\\\/example.com<\/code>, and some forms store them as <code>https%3A%2F%2Fexample.com<\/code>. When your text contains a \/ or :, these forms are found and replaced too.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Widgets and settings stay safe.<\/strong> WordPress stores settings in a format that breaks if text changes length. This plugin rewrites that format correctly, including settings stored inside settings. Anything in a format it cannot read safely is listed and left alone.<\/li>\n<li><strong>It works on cheap hosting.<\/strong> The work is done in short steps while the screen is open, so it does not time out on large sites.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pages edited in the meantime are skipped.<\/strong> If someone edits a page between your search and your Replace, that page is left alone and named in the result.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h4>Where it looks<\/h4>\n\n<p>Posts, pages, menus and other content; custom fields; widgets and settings; comments; categories and tags.<\/p>\n\n<p>It never changes:<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n<li>user accounts, emails or passwords;<\/li>\n<li>your site address settings (changing those signs everyone out; use Settings &gt; General);<\/li>\n<li>WordPress's own internal settings, such as scheduled tasks and the list of active plugins;<\/li>\n<li>old revisions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h4>What it does not do<\/h4>\n\n<ul>\n<li>It does not send anything to an outside service.<\/li>\n<li>It has no settings page and no account.<\/li>\n<li>It does not slow your visitors down. The plugin also keeps its own copy of every value it changes, so a change can be undone from the Recent changes list.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"why%20is%20a%20place%20listed%20as%20%22not%20changed%3A%20unusual%20format%22%3F\"><h3>Why is a place listed as \"not changed: unusual format\"?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Some plugins store data in a format that cannot be changed safely without loading their code. Those places are listed so you know about them, and left exactly as they are.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"the%20page%20still%20shows%20the%20old%20text.\"><h3>The page still shows the old text.<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Clear your page builder's cache or your cache plugin's cache. Elementor, for example, has Tools &gt; Regenerate CSS &amp; Data.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"how%20long%20is%20undo%20kept%3F\"><h3>How long is undo kept?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>For your last 10 changes. Older copies are deleted to keep your database small.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"does%20it%20replace%20text%20in%20the%20middle%20of%20words%3F\"><h3>Does it replace text in the middle of words?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Yes, exactly like a word processor's Replace All.
