This one does one thing: connect a single Gmail or Google Workspace account with a Google App Password, guided step by step in a pop-up with buttons that open the right Google pages. The login is tested before anything is saved, so you know it works before your store depends on it.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>How it works<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ol>\n<li>Go to Settings &gt; Mail Relay and click Connect Gmail.<\/li>\n<li>Enter your Gmail address and a Google App Password. The pop-up walks you through creating one, with buttons that open the right Google pages.<\/li>\n<li>Click Test &amp; connect. Your email goes straight from your site to Google.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p><strong>Full version<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/getalienartifacts.com\/mail-relay\/\">full version<\/a> adds a Google Apps Script relay that sends over HTTPS (for hosts that block mail ports, and accounts that can't use App Passwords), automatic retries if Google is briefly unreachable, and a 200-email log. Your connection carries over when you upgrade.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Sending limits<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>Google limits how much each account can send per day; the limits depend on your account type and are published by Google. This plugin is designed for site and store notifications, not bulk marketing.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Trademarks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>Gmail and Google Workspace are trademarks of Google LLC. This plugin is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Google.<\/p>\n\n<h3>External services<\/h3>\n\n<p>This plugin connects to Google's Gmail SMTP server (smtp.gmail.com, port 587) to send your site's email. It does so every time WordPress sends an email while the plugin is connected, and when you click Test &amp; connect. Each email's recipients, subject, content and attachments, plus your Gmail address and App Password for sign-in, are sent to Google. No data is sent anywhere else.<\/p>\n\n<p>Google Terms of Service: https:\/\/policies.google.com\/terms\nGoogle Privacy Policy: https:\/\/policies.google.com\/privacy<\/p>\n\n<!--section=installation-->\n<ol>\n<li>Install and activate the plugin.<\/li>\n<li>Go to Settings &gt; Mail Relay and click Connect Gmail.<\/li>\n<li>Enter your address and a Google App Password, then click Test &amp; connect.<\/li>\n<li>Send a test email.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<!--section=faq-->\n<dl>\n<dt id=\"how%20do%20i%20get%20an%20app%20password%3F\"><h3>How do I get an App Password?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><ol>\n<li>Turn on 2-Step Verification for the Google account you want to send from.<\/li>\n<li>Open the App Passwords page in your Google account (sign in again if asked).<\/li>\n<li>Type a name such as \"My site email\" and click Create.<\/li>\n<li>Copy the 16-letter code Google shows. It is only shown once. Spaces don't matter.<\/li>\n<li>Paste it into the Connect pop-up and click Test &amp; connect.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<p>The pop-up has buttons that open each Google page.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"i%20don%27t%20see%20the%20app%20passwords%20option\"><h3>I don't see the App Passwords option<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Usually 2-Step Verification is off; turn it on first. On Google Workspace accounts your administrator may have disabled App Passwords, or the account may use only security keys or Advanced Protection.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"why%20can%27t%20i%20use%20my%20normal%20google%20password%3F\"><h3>Why can't I use my normal Google password?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Google no longer allows apps to sign in with your regular password. An App Password is a separate 16-letter code that can be revoked at any time from your Google account.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"email%20stopped%20sending%20after%20i%20changed%20my%20google%20password\"><h3>Email stopped sending after I changed my Google password<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Changing your Google password cancels all App Passwords. Create a new one and reconnect under Settings &gt; Mail Relay.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"the%20test%20says%20my%20host%20is%20blocking%20port%20587\"><h3>The test says my host is blocking port 587<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Some hosts block outgoing mail connections. Ask your host to allow connections to smtp.gmail.com on port 587, or use the full version, whose Apps Script relay sends over HTTPS instead.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"where%20is%20my%20app%20password%20stored%3F\"><h3>Where is my App Password stored?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>In your WordPress database, encrypted with AES-256 using a key derived from your site's secret salts. To use your own key, define <code>AAMR_ENCRYPTION_KEY<\/code> in <code>wp-config.php<\/code> before connecting.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"does%20this%20send%20data%20to%20alien%20artifacts%3F\"><h3>Does this send data to Alien Artifacts?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>No. The only external connection is to Google's mail server, smtp.gmail.com, to send your email.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"can%20i%20send%20from%20a%20different%20address%20than%20my%20gmail%20login%3F\"><h3>Can I send from a different address than my Gmail login?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Yes, if that address is set up as a verified \"Send mail as\" alias in Gmail.
