Each item opens a large panel that you design in the Site Editor with the blocks you already know: columns of links, images, buttons, even a product grid.<\/p>\n\n<p>Classic mega menu plugins work with the old Appearance \u2192 Menus screen, which block themes do not use. This plugin is made for the Navigation block.<\/p>\n\n<h4>How it works<\/h4>\n\n<ol>\n<li>Go to <strong>Appearance \u2192 Mega Menus<\/strong> and click <strong>Create panel<\/strong>. A new panel starts with three columns of links. Design it with any blocks.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Open header editor<\/strong>, select the Navigation block, click its <strong>+<\/strong> and add a <strong>Mega Menu<\/strong> item.<\/li>\n<li>Type the item's text, choose the panel in the block settings and save.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<p>You can also create a panel right from the block settings.<\/p>\n\n<p>Already have a menu? Select a link in it, click the first icon in the toolbar and choose <strong>Transform to \u2192 Mega Menu<\/strong>. To build it yourself, run <code>npm install<\/code> and then <code>npm run build<\/code> in the plugin folder. The build uses <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npmjs.com\/package\/@wordpress\/scripts\">@wordpress\/scripts<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<h4>Libraries<\/h4>\n\n<p>The plugin does not bundle any third-party library. Its scripts use only the packages that come with WordPress (<code>@wordpress\/blocks<\/code>, <code>@wordpress\/block-editor<\/code>, <code>@wordpress\/components<\/code> and others), loaded from WordPress itself. The settings panel helpers in <code>src\/vendor\/softicon-tools<\/code> are our own code, released under the same GPLv3 or later license as the plugin. All icons were drawn for this plugin.<\/p>\n\n<!--section=installation-->\n<ol>\n<li>Upload the plugin and activate it, or install it from Plugins \u2192 Add New.<\/li>\n<li>Use a block theme (Appearance \u2192 Editor).<\/li>\n<li>Edit your header, select the Navigation block and add a <strong>Mega Menu<\/strong> item.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<!--section=faq-->\n<dl>\n<dt id=\"does%20it%20work%20with%20classic%20themes%3F\"><h3>Does it work with classic themes?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>No. Panels are template parts, which need a block theme. Classic themes can use a classic menu plugin.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"where%20do%20i%20find%20my%20panels%3F\"><h3>Where do I find my panels?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p><strong>Appearance \u2192 Mega Menus<\/strong> lists them all with an Edit button. They are also in Appearance \u2192 Editor \u2192 Patterns \u2192 <strong>Mega Menu<\/strong>, and the block settings link to the chosen panel.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"where%20is%20appearance%20%E2%86%92%20menus%3F\"><h3>Where is Appearance \u2192 Menus?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Block themes have no Menus screen; menus are made with the Navigation block in Appearance \u2192 Editor. Mega Menu items go inside that Navigation block.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"the%20panel%20opens%20too%20high%2C%20on%20top%20of%20my%20header\"><h3>The panel opens too high, on top of my header<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>The panel opens right under the menu item. If your header is taller, use <strong>Space above<\/strong> in the Style tab to move it down.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"what%20happens%20on%20phones%3F\"><h3>What happens on phones?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>When the Navigation block turns into a phone menu, the panel opens under its item inside that menu. With a link on the item you can choose <strong>Go to link<\/strong> instead, then the item is a normal link on phones.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"i%20switched%20themes%20and%20my%20panels%20are%20gone\"><h3>I switched themes and my panels are gone<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Template parts belong to a theme.
