When a visitor needs a person, your team takes over the conversation as a live chat, from the browser or from the Chat on Page app for iOS and Android.<\/p>\n\n<p>This plugin connects your WordPress site to your Chat on Page account and adds the chat widget to your pages. You set up the chatbot itself (its sources, tone, team and working hours) in your Chat on Page dashboard.<\/p>\n\n<h4>Features<\/h4>\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Answers from your own content.<\/strong> The chatbot learns from the pages of your website and only answers from what it found, with sources.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Live chat takeover.<\/strong> Your team sees the conversations and takes over when needed, including on the go with the iOS and Android app.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Five languages.<\/strong> The chat speaks Dutch, English, French, German and Spanish, and follows the language of your site or of your visitor.<\/li>\n<li><strong>EU-hosted AI.<\/strong> Answers are generated by Mistral AI, hosted in the European Union.<\/li>\n<li><strong>WooCommerce (optional).<\/strong> Visitors can ask about your products, prices and availability, and about the status of their order. No code to copy.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Your choice where it shows.<\/strong> Left or right, open automatically or not, greeting bubble on or off, and hide it on specific pages or on the WooCommerce cart and checkout.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Light.<\/strong> The widget loads asynchronously and does not block your pages.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3>External services<\/h3>\n\n<p>This plugin connects to Chat on Page (https:\/\/chatonpage.com), the service that runs the chatbot. Without it the plugin does nothing.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Chat widget.<\/strong> When a key is set, the plugin loads the script https:\/\/chatonpage.com\/widget.js on the pages of your website (not in the WordPress admin). The script shows the chat button and connects the visitor's browser to chatonpage.com when the visitor uses the chat. It then sends the messages the visitor types, the URL of the page and the language, and a name and email address only if the visitor provides them (for example to be contacted by your team).<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Connect.<\/strong> When an administrator clicks Connect with Chat on Page, the browser goes to https:\/\/chatonpage.com\/connect\/wordpress with the address of the website, the address of the settings page to return to, a random verification code, the language of the administrator and the plugin version. Chat on Page sends back the public key of the chatbot, its name and a link to the dashboard.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Shop link (WooCommerce).<\/strong> Right after connecting, your website exchanges a one-time code with https:\/\/chatonpage.com\/api\/wordpress\/v1\/link for a secret that signs all further messages, and sends the address of your site, the address of its REST API, whether WooCommerce is active, the two WooCommerce settings and the plugin version. When these settings change, or when you disconnect, the plugin tells Chat on Page.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Order status (WooCommerce).<\/strong> When a visitor asks the chatbot about an order and gives the order number and email address, Chat on Page sends both to the REST API of your website (<code>\/wp-json\/chat-on-page\/v1\/order-status<\/code>, signed with the secret). Your website only answers when they match an order, with its number, status, dates, total, payment and shipping method, product names and quantities, and track &amp; trace. The chatbot uses this to answer the visitor.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Product updates (WooCommerce).<\/strong> When a published product changes, the plugin sends the address of its product page to https:\/\/chatonpage.com\/api\/wordpress\/v1\/changed, at most once a minute. Nothing is loaded in the WordPress admin.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"is%20it%20gdpr%20compliant%3F\"><h3>Is it GDPR compliant?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>The answers are generated by Mistral, a European AI company, on EU-hosted models, and conversations are anonymised after a period you choose. The widget only sends data when a visitor uses the chat (see External services below). Mention the chat in your privacy policy; a data processing agreement is available on chatonpage.com.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"can%20i%20hide%20the%20chat%20on%20some%20pages%3F\"><h3>Can I hide the chat on some pages?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Yes. Enter the IDs of the pages or posts under Settings \u2192 Chat on Page \u2192 Hide on. With WooCommerce active you can also hide it on the cart and checkout. Developers can use the <code>chat_on_page_hide_widget<\/code> filter.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"do%20i%20need%20woocommerce%3F\"><h3>Do I need WooCommerce?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>No. The plugin works on any WordPress site. When WooCommerce is active, a WooCommerce section appears under Settings \u2192 Chat on Page with two extra features, both on by default:<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Order status.<\/strong> The chatbot asks the customer for the order number and the email address of the order. Only when both match does it give the status, dates, products and track &amp; trace (from WooCommerce Shipment Tracking, or via the <code>chat_on_page_order_tracking<\/code> filter). Addresses and payment details are never shared. Custom order numbers work through the same filter as the WooCommerce order tracking shortcode.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Up-to-date products.<\/strong> When a product, its price or its stock changes, the plugin asks Chat on Page to read that product page again within a minute.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>These features need the shop link that is made when you click Connect with Chat on Page (not with a manually entered key).
