Visitors press play and the article is read aloud by the voices already built into their browser.<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n<li>No API key, no account and no monthly cost.<\/li>\n<li>No audio files stored on your server.<\/li>\n<li>Play, pause, stop and speed control.<\/li>\n<li>Uses a voice that matches your site language when the browser has one.<\/li>\n<li>Set a default language and voice, and test it right from the settings screen.<\/li>\n<li>Visitors can switch the language and voice in the player, and their choice is remembered.<\/li>\n<li>Choose the post types, and show the player before or after the content.<\/li>\n<li>Hide the player on single posts, or place it anywhere with the <code>[auvrenth_tts]<\/code> shortcode.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>The player only appears in browsers that support speech synthesis, which covers all current versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox.<\/p>\n\n<h4>Shortcode<\/h4>\n\n<p>Add <code>[auvrenth_tts]<\/code> to a post or page, or to a Shortcode block, to show the player exactly where you want it. It reads the post it is placed in.<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n<li>Works on any post type, even ones not ticked under \"Show on\" in the settings.<\/li>\n<li>When a post contains the shortcode, the automatic player is skipped there, so the player never shows twice.<\/li>\n<li>Set \"Player position\" to \"Only where I add the [auvrenth_tts] shortcode\" to turn off automatic placement everywhere and use the shortcode only.<\/li>\n<li>The shortcode shows nothing when the player is hidden for that post in the editor, or when the post is password protected.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<!--section=installation-->\n<ol>\n<li>Upload the <code>auvrenth-text-to-speech-reader<\/code> folder to <code>\/wp-content\/plugins\/<\/code>, or install it from the Plugins screen.<\/li>\n<li>Activate the plugin.<\/li>\n<li>Open Auvrenth Reader in the admin menu to choose where the player appears.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<!--section=faq-->\n<dl>\n<dt id=\"does%20it%20need%20an%20api%20key%3F\"><h3>Does it need an API key?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>No. Speech is generated by the visitor's browser, so nothing is sent to an outside service.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"why%20does%20the%20voice%20sound%20different%20on%20another%20device%3F\"><h3>Why does the voice sound different on another device?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Each browser and operating system ships its own voices, so the voice depends on the visitor's device.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"how%20do%20i%20place%20the%20player%20in%20a%20different%20spot%3F\"><h3>How do I place the player in a different spot?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Add the <code>[auvrenth_tts]<\/code> shortcode where the player should appear.
