Visitors rarely go looking for the blog to find it. News Ticker puts your newest headlines in front of them on every page.<\/p>\n\n<p>Turn on the site-wide bar in <strong>Settings &gt; News Ticker<\/strong> and it scrolls your latest posts as links, at the top of the page or fixed to the bottom of the screen. Add your own headlines too, each with an optional link. To show a ticker inside a page instead, use the <strong>News Ticker<\/strong> block or the <code>[digital_advisors_news_ticker]<\/code> shortcode.<\/p>\n\n<h4>Features<\/h4>\n\n<ul>\n<li>Shows your newest published posts as links, from all categories or one you choose.<\/li>\n<li>Extra headlines, one per line, each with an optional link to a page on your site or an <code>https:\/\/<\/code> address.<\/li>\n<li>Site-wide bar at the top of the page or the bottom of the screen. A bottom bar adds space below the page so it never covers your footer.<\/li>\n<li>A block and a shortcode for placing a ticker inside posts, pages and widget areas, with per-placement post count, category, label, dates and speed.<\/li>\n<li>Your own label, speed and colours, plus optional post dates.<\/li>\n<li>Preview on the settings screen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h4>Accessible by design<\/h4>\n\n<ul>\n<li>Visitors can pause the ticker with a Pause button. It also pauses while the pointer is over it or a link inside it has keyboard focus.<\/li>\n<li>No motion for visitors whose device asks for reduced motion. They get a still list they can scroll.<\/li>\n<li>Without JavaScript the list is still and scrollable, so every headline stays reachable.<\/li>\n<li>The scrolling copy of the list is hidden from screen readers and skipped by the keyboard, so each headline is announced and focused once.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h4>Light and private<\/h4>\n\n<ul>\n<li>The stylesheet and script load only on pages that show a ticker.<\/li>\n<li>No external requests, cookies, tracking or visitor data. Headlines come from your own posts and settings.<\/li>\n<li>No ads, upsells or credit links on your site.<\/li>\n<li>Works with block themes and classic themes. Themes that do not support <code>wp_body_open<\/code> still get the bar.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>News Ticker is made by <a href=\"https:\/\/digitaladvisors.com.au\/\">Digital Advisors<\/a>. The settings screen preview shows a message when there is nothing to show.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"can%20i%20show%20posts%20from%20one%20category%20only%3F\"><h3>Can I show posts from one category only?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Yes. Choose a category in <strong>Settings &gt; News Ticker<\/strong>. The block and shortcode can each use a different category, for example <code>[digital_advisors_news_ticker category=\"news\"]<\/code>.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"how%20do%20i%20add%20a%20headline%20that%20is%20not%20a%20post%3F\"><h3>How do I add a headline that is not a post?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Add it to <strong>Extra headlines<\/strong>, one per line. To make it a link, put <code>|<\/code> and the link after the text:<\/p>\n\n<pre><code>Winter sale ends Friday | \/shop\/sale\n<\/code><\/pre>\n\n<p>Links must be a path on your site, starting with <code>\/<\/code>, or a full <code>https:\/\/<\/code> address. Anything else is shown as plain text.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"what%20shortcode%20attributes%20are%20there%3F\"><h3>What shortcode attributes are there?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>All are optional and fall back to your settings:<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n<li><code>count<\/code> \u2013 number of posts, 1 to 10<\/li>\n<li><code>category<\/code> \u2013 category slug or ID<\/li>\n<li><code>label<\/code> \u2013 label text; use <code>label=\"\"<\/code> for no label<\/li>\n<li><code>show_dates<\/code> \u2013 <code>yes<\/code> or <code>no<\/code><\/li>\n<li><code>speed<\/code> \u2013 <code>slow<\/code>, <code>normal<\/code> or <code>fast<\/code><\/li>\n<li><code>headlines<\/code> \u2013 <code>no<\/code> to leave out your extra headlines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Example: <code>[digital_advisors_news_ticker count=\"3\" category=\"events\" speed=\"slow\"]<\/code><\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"will%20the%20ticker%20distract%20visitors%20or%20cause%20motion%20sickness%3F\"><h3>Will the ticker distract visitors or cause motion sickness?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Visitors can pause it at any time, and it pauses when they hover over it or focus a link inside it. If their device is set to reduce motion, the ticker does not move at all.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"does%20the%20bottom%20bar%20cover%20my%20footer%3F\"><h3>Does the bottom bar cover my footer?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>No. The bar adds its own height to the space below your page, so your footer stays visible above it.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"can%20i%20hide%20the%20bar%20on%20some%20pages%3F\"><h3>Can I hide the bar on some pages?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Yes, with the <code>digital_advisors_news_ticker_show_bar<\/code> filter.
