After payment the recipient gets a designed email with a code. The balance is spent in the normal coupon field, in as many orders as it takes.<\/p>\n\n<p>No upsell, no \"Pro\" tab. Every feature below is in the free plugin.<\/p>\n\n<h4>For your customers<\/h4>\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Pick an amount<\/strong> from suggested buttons (25 \/ 50 \/ 100\u2026) or type any amount, within the limits you set.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Personalise<\/strong>: recipient name and email, a message up to 300 characters, and a \"send on\" date for birthdays and holidays.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Spend it your way<\/strong>: enter the code in the coupon field of the classic checkout or the checkout block. Two orders cannot spend the same money.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cancelled, failed or refunded orders give the balance back<\/strong>, and unused cards bought on that order are voided. If the order is paid again, everything is put back.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Every change is atomic and logged.<\/strong> The history always explains the balance.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cards are issued once.<\/strong> A repeated payment notification never creates a second card.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Codes are 12 random characters<\/strong> from an alphabet without look-alike letters (no 0\/O or 1\/I), and lookups are rate-limited against guessing.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nothing is deleted when you uninstall<\/strong>, unless you tick the box. That works in the classic checkout and in the checkout block, with no extra step.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"does%20a%20gift%20card%20pay%20for%20shipping%3F\"><h3>Does a gift card pay for shipping?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>A gift card is applied as a discount on the products in the cart, as a coupon is. Shipping is not covered.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"can%20a%20gift%20card%20buy%20another%20gift%20card%3F\"><h3>Can a gift card buy another gift card?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>No. Gift card products are excluded from what a card can pay for.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"is%20tax%20charged%20when%20the%20card%20is%20sold%2C%20or%20when%20it%20is%20spent%3F\"><h3>Is tax charged when the card is sold, or when it is spent?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Tlloancy People's Giftcard applies a card as a discount, so tax is calculated on the discounted prices. Rules on gift cards differ between countries (single-purpose and multi-purpose vouchers are not taxed the same way), so set the tax status of your gift card product with your accountant.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"what%20happens%20to%20the%20code%20if%20the%20order%20is%20refunded%20or%20cancelled%3F\"><h3>What happens to the code if the order is refunded or cancelled?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>A card bought on that order is voided if it was not used. A balance that paid for that order goes back on its card. A card the merchant voided by hand stays voided.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"can%20i%20send%20a%20card%20on%20a%20future%20date%3F\"><h3>Can I send a card on a future date?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Yes. The buyer picks a \"send on\" date, up to one year ahead. WP-Cron sends the email on that day. Cards waiting to be sent are listed under the \"Scheduled\" filter.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"where%20are%20the%20cards%20stored%3F\"><h3>Where are the cards stored?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>In two tables of your database (<code>tlpg_cards<\/code> and <code>tlpg_ledger<\/code>). They are kept when you delete the plugin unless you tick \"Delete all gift cards and history\" in the settings.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"i%20used%20%22gift%20card%20amount%22%20before.%20will%20i%20lose%20my%20cards%3F\"><h3>I used \"Gift Card Amount\" before. Will I lose my cards?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>No. On activation, Tlloancy People's Giftcard imports the cards, the product settings and the code prefix from that earlier plugin.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"how%20do%20customers%20check%20a%20balance%3F\"><h3>How do customers check a balance?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Put <code>[tlpg_balance]<\/code> on any page.
