Customers pay the full price at checkout with the payment methods you already accept, and you release each item when it is ready.

What Lite does:

Adds a Pre-orders tab to the product edit screen. Turn pre-orders on and set a release date, or leave the date empty until it is confirmed. Settings on a variable product cover all of its variations.

Changes the buttons to "Pre-order now" and "Place pre-order", in classic and block checkout.

Shows the expected release date on the product page, in the cart and at checkout.

Saves the terms the customer saw on each order line: release date, payment timing and product settings revision. Editing the product later does not change existing orders.

Shows those terms on the order screen, in the customer's account and in WooCommerce order emails.

Keeps WooCommerce from completing a paid order automatically while an item waits for release, and keeps that item's downloads locked until then.

Lists every pre-order item under WooCommerce > Pre-orders with its release status. You review and release one item at a time.

Emails the customer when you release their item, in the language they ordered in. The "Pre-order released" email can be turned off under WooCommerce > Settings > Emails.

Adds a Pre-orders tab to the customer's My Account page.

Includes an offline test mode for staging, development and local sites. Test checkouts use a simulated payment method, and outgoing email and HTTP requests are blocked while it is on.

Works with WooCommerce HPOS and legacy order storage.

Lite does not contact external services, collect usage data or show ads.

Not included

Preorder Workspace, the paid edition, adds payment on release, split payments, release date changes with customer emails, bulk and automatic release, pre-orders that start when stock runs out, pre-order fees, per-order limits and per-variation settings. Lite does not contain that code, so nothing in Lite is locked or time-limited.

Bookings and Subscriptions products are not supported.

Translations

All text in the plugin can be translated. Translations are managed on translate.wordpress.org.

Install and activate WooCommerce.

Install Webinstudio Preorder Workspace Lite from Plugins > Add New Plugin, or upload the ZIP, and activate it.

Open WooCommerce > Pre-order setup and follow the steps.

To try it without real payments, use a staging or local site and turn on offline test mode on the same page.

How do customers pay?

They pay the full price at checkout with your normal payment methods.
