And how much money they cost you?

On one of our own sites, a week with 9,426 visits turned out to have only 1,195 people in it. The rest were bots: some useful, some just eating resources, and a few pretending to be Google.

SeoNova Bot Radar sorts every visit into 6 buckets:

🟢 Humans

🔵 Verified good bots — the real crawlers of Google, Bing, Apple, Facebook and other big names, checked by IP against the official ranges they publish (a User-Agent can be faked; the official IP range cannot).

🟣 Bots worth it — ad verification, link previews and smaller search engines. They give you something back, so they are not counted as junk.

🔴 IMPOSTORS — they claim to be Googlebot and their IP is not Google's.

🟠 Data centers — IPs from AWS, Hetzner, Huawei Cloud… disguised as a person with a browser.

⚪ Declared bots — AI scrapers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot), SEO spies (Ahrefs, Semrush), tools (curl, python).

And the important part: it tells you what they cost. Enter your AdSense RPM and the radar estimates how many dollars per month of junk traffic are polluting your metrics and your ads.

What you get out of knowing it

See whether Google is still visiting you. Visits from Google's verified crawlers, checked by IP, with the change against the previous week. Google crawling you less can be an early sign of an SEO problem.

Look after your AdSense. Bots on your ads can be treated as invalid traffic. Knowing how much of it you get lets you act before it costs you.

Know which AI reads your content. GPTBot, ClaudeBot and the rest, by name, so you can decide whether to let them in.

Spot an attack the same day. A red spike in the 30-day chart tells you which day it started, and the visitor lists show who is behind your latest visits.

Decide with real numbers. Your real audience, not the inflated one.

Every Monday you get an email: "Bots cost you ~$X this week".

This plugin only watches, it does not block. Built for shared hosting: circular buffer of 1,000 visits, zero external calls in the visit path, zero database growth. It only connects to a service outside your site in the three cases below, and none of them runs until you switch it on or press send.

Anonymous weekly statistics (SeoNova)

What it is: SeoNova's own server, on the seonova.pro domain. It tells us how the plugin is used so we can improve it.

When: once a week, and only if you tick "Anonymous stats" in the plugin settings. It is off by default.

What is sent: aggregated counts for the last 7 days (total visits and how many fell into each group), the verdict level, the plugin and WordPress versions, the panel language and a random identifier created on your site. Never your domain, IP addresses, user agents or anything about your visitors.

Provided by SeoNova: privacy policy, terms.

Feedback form (SeoNova)

What it is: the "Want to leave us a question or your opinion?" box at the bottom of the panel. It goes to the same SeoNova server, on seonova.pro.

When: only when you write a message and press Send.

What is sent: your name, your email, your message, your site address and the panel language. If the "attach my site's diagnosis" box is ticked (you can untick it before sending), also the same anonymous summary as above.

Provided by SeoNova: privacy policy, terms.

Reverse DNS lookups (your server's DNS resolver)

What it is: asking for the host name behind an IP address (for example
ec2-...compute.amazonaws.com
), to spot cloud servers posing as visitors.

When: every 15 minutes in the background, and only if you tick "Reverse DNS" in the plugin settings. It is off by default.

What is sent: the IP addresses of the busiest visitors (up to 20 per run), to the DNS resolver your server already uses.
