Those emails are not authenticated,\nso contact form messages often land in spam, get rejected by Gmail, or silently disappear.<\/p>\n\n<p>SOHO SMTP makes every email from your site \u2014 contact forms, comment notices, new users, password\nresets, shop orders \u2014 leave through an authenticated connection you choose. Emails sent by other\nplugins take the same route automatically.<\/p>\n\n<h4>Choose how emails are sent<\/h4>\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>SMTP server<\/strong> \u2014 pick your mail service and the server, port and encryption are filled in:\nGmail, Outlook.com, Naver, Daum, Yahoo! JAPAN Mail, XServer, Sakura Internet, Synology NAS, or any other SMTP server.\nThe services of the admin's own country are listed first.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Email API service<\/strong> \u2014 SendGrid, Mailgun, Amazon SES, Postmark, Brevo, SMTP2GO. Only HTTPS is needed,\nso this works even when your host blocks mail ports.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Google account \/ Microsoft account<\/strong> \u2014 send through Gmail or Microsoft 365 \/ Outlook.com with OAuth,\nusing your own app. Step-by-step instructions are on the screen, including the steps that usually trip people up\n(publishing the Google app so the connection does not expire every 7 days).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h4>Never lose an email<\/h4>\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Backup server<\/strong> \u2014 when the main connection fails, the same email is sent right away through a second SMTP server.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Automatic retries<\/strong> \u2014 failed emails are tried again after 5 minutes, 30 minutes, 2 hours and 6 hours.\nAttachments are kept safely until the email is delivered.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Background sending<\/strong> (optional) \u2014 forms respond instantly instead of waiting for the mail server.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Failure alerts<\/strong> \u2014 an email to you when something cannot be delivered (sent through the backup server when\nthe main connection is the problem; at most one per hour).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Weekly report<\/strong> \u2014 delivered, failed and the most common reasons.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Site Health<\/strong> \u2014 problems show up in Tools &gt; Site Health.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h4>Errors explained in plain language<\/h4>\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Test email<\/strong> \u2014 send a real email with the current settings, even before turning SOHO SMTP on.<\/li>\n<li>When it fails you get the cause and what to do \u2014 for example \"Signing in failed: Gmail needs an app password\" \u2014\ninstead of a raw error code. The conversation with the server is shown with passwords and message content removed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h4>Sending log<\/h4>\n\n<ul>\n<li>When, to whom, which subject, through which route, and the result \u2014 with the full server conversation for failures.<\/li>\n<li>Message bodies and attachments are never stored. Entries are deleted after 7, 30 or 90 days.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h4>Domain authentication check<\/h4>\n\n<p>When the test succeeds but a bounce arrives later, the cause is almost always the sender domain.\nOne click checks:<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n<li>SPF \u2014 is there a record, does it include your mail server or service (following include, a, mx and redirect),\nare there duplicate records or a dangerous \"+all\"<\/li>\n<li>DKIM \u2014 is a public key published (common selectors are tried automatically; you can enter yours)<\/li>\n<li>DMARC \u2014 is there a policy<\/li>\n<li>Sending a @gmail.com (or other mail service) address through another server \u2014 a combination that is always rejected<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>When something is missing, SOHO SMTP writes the DNS value for you, ready to copy.<\/p>\n\n<h4>Safe and simple<\/h4>\n\n<ul>\n<li>Passwords, API keys and account tokens are stored encrypted. The key is derived from your site's security keys in\nwp-config.php, not stored in the database, so a database copy alone cannot reveal them.
