Instead they are moved to <code>uploads-legacy<\/code>, where they can be restored individually, by selection or all at once. Only the trash deletes files permanently, and only after you explicitly confirm it.<\/p>\n\n<h4>Free version vs. Pro<\/h4>\n\n<p>The free version includes the complete cleanup process (scan, legacy media management, trash). This is the core of the plugin and can be used without restrictions.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Media Cleaner Pro<\/strong> adds:<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n<li>Automatically regenerate missing image sizes (for example after switching themes).<\/li>\n<li>Downscale original images and optionally serve them as WebP\/AVIF, including a safe backup area for the originals.<\/li>\n<li>Automatic update notifications directly in the WordPress admin.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<!--section=installation-->\n<ol>\n<li>Upload the plugin ZIP under <em>Plugins \u2192 Add New Plugin \u2192 Upload Plugin<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Activate the plugin.<\/li>\n<li>Start a scan from the <strong>Media Cleaner<\/strong> menu.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<!--section=faq-->\n<dl>\n<dt id=\"are%20files%20deleted%20immediately%3F\"><h3>Are files deleted immediately?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>No. Files that are found are first moved to <code>uploads-legacy<\/code> and can be restored from there at any time.
