Parent and child categories are never changed unless you explicitly select them. This plugin does not create categories and does not change the WooCommerce default category setting.<\/p>\n\n<p>WooCommerce always keeps at least one category on a product. If you remove the last category, WooCommerce puts the product back in the <strong>store default category<\/strong>. That is normal WooCommerce behaviour, not a plugin bug.<\/p>\n\n<p>If you need products \u201cout of\u201d the default category, create your own category first (for example <strong>New<\/strong>, <strong>Unassigned<\/strong>, or <strong>Inbox<\/strong>) under <strong>Products \u2192 Categories<\/strong>, then use <strong>Replace<\/strong> (default \u2192 your category) or <strong>Add<\/strong> that category before you <strong>Remove<\/strong> the old ones.<\/p>\n\n<p>After you click <strong>Update<\/strong>, a confirmation dialog shows what will change. Categories are then updated in small batches with a progress bar, and the other bulk edit fields (price, stock, etc.) are saved by WooCommerce as usual. The confirmation for <strong>Add<\/strong> can be turned off per user; <strong>Remove<\/strong> and <strong>Replace<\/strong> always ask.<\/p>\n\n<p>No extra admin menus, no custom product screens, and no changes to storefront behavior.<\/p>\n\n<!--section=installation-->\n<ol>\n<li>Upload the plugin folder to <code>\/wp-content\/plugins\/<\/code> or install the ZIP from <strong>Plugins \u2192 Add New<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Activate the plugin through the <strong>Plugins<\/strong> screen.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure WooCommerce is active.<\/li>\n<li>Go to <strong>Products<\/strong>, select products, choose <strong>Edit<\/strong> from Bulk actions, and use the <strong>Categories<\/strong> section.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<!--section=faq-->\n<dl>\n<dt id=\"does%20this%20replace%20the%20woocommerce%20bulk%20editor%3F\"><h3>Does this replace the WooCommerce bulk editor?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>No. It only adds a <strong>Categories<\/strong> section to the existing bulk edit form.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"will%20removing%20a%20parent%20category%20remove%20its%20children%20from%20products%3F\"><h3>Will removing a parent category remove its children from products?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>No. Only the selected category term is removed.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"i%20unchecked%20every%20category%2C%20but%20the%20default%20one%20is%20still%20there.%20why%3F\"><h3>I unchecked every category, but the default one is still there. Why?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>WooCommerce does not allow a product with zero categories. After the last category is removed, WooCommerce assigns the store default category again. Create a category such as <strong>New<\/strong> or <strong>Unassigned<\/strong> (<strong>Products \u2192 Categories<\/strong>) and <strong>Replace<\/strong> the default category with that one instead of trying to leave the product empty.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"will%20this%20plugin%20create%20an%20%E2%80%9Cunassigned%E2%80%9D%20category%20for%20me%3F\"><h3>Will this plugin create an \u201cUnassigned\u201d category for me?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>No. You choose the name and you create it once in WooCommerce.
