Pick which folder to scan, hit <em>Scan comments<\/em>, and every comment that matches your rules is listed with the reason it was flagged. Tick what you want (everything is pre-ticked) and apply one bulk action to the lot.<\/p>\n\n<p>Rules included:<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Links in the comment<\/strong> \u2014 any http:\/\/, https:\/\/, www., anchor tag or BBCode link. Threshold is configurable (default: 1 link).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Author website field filled<\/strong> \u2014 the classic link-drop signal.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Link inside author name or email<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>SQL injection \/ scanner probes<\/strong> \u2014 <code>PG_SLEEP<\/code>, <code>WAITFOR DELAY<\/code>, <code>UNION SELECT<\/code>, <code>BENCHMARK()<\/code>, <code>EXTRACTVALUE()<\/code>, <code>information_schema<\/code>, <code>' OR 1=1--<\/code>, <code>${jndi:<\/code> and more.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Script \/ HTML injection<\/strong> \u2014 script and iframe tags, <code>javascript:<\/code> URLs, inline event handlers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>BBCode links<\/strong> \u2014 <code>[url=...]<\/code>, <code>[link=...]<\/code>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Custom keywords<\/strong> \u2014 your own list, matched against comment, author, email, website and IP.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Numeric or empty author name<\/strong> \u2014 catches the \"1\" that injection scanners use.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Repeat IP address<\/strong> \u2014 an IP with more than N comments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Bulk actions: Move to Trash, Mark as Spam, Delete Permanently, and Approve (to clear a false positive out of the list).<\/p>\n\n<p>Scanning and deleting run in batches over AJAX, so tens of thousands of comments will not time the request out.<\/p>\n\n<p>Optionally the same rules can run on new submissions: send matches straight to the spam folder, or reject them outright.<\/p>\n\n<!--section=installation-->\n<ol>\n<li>Upload the <code>commentinel-spam-comment-cleaner<\/code> folder to <code>\/wp-content\/plugins\/<\/code>, or upload the ZIP via <strong>Plugins \u2192 Add New \u2192 Upload Plugin<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Activate the plugin.<\/li>\n<li>Go to <strong>Comments \u2192 Spam Cleaner<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<!--section=faq-->\n<dl>\n<dt id=\"will%20it%20delete%20legitimate%20comments%3F\"><h3>Will it delete legitimate comments?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Nothing is deleted until you press Apply. The \"Links in the comment\" rule is broad by design \u2014 a genuine visitor pasting a URL will match it, so review the list before deleting, or raise the link threshold to 2+.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"comments%20from%20my%20logged-in%20users%20are%20being%20flagged\"><h3>Comments from my logged-in users are being flagged<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Under <strong>Rules &amp; settings \u2192 Safety<\/strong>, \"Comments from logged-in registered users\" is skipped by default. Make sure it is ticked.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"does%20deleting%20count%20as%20permanent%3F\"><h3>Does deleting count as permanent?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>\"Delete Permanently\" removes the rows from the database and cannot be undone.
