Your own Google\nkey, your own quota; nothing goes through us.<\/p>\n\n<h4>It never replaces a field<\/h4>\n\n<p>WooCommerce's own address inputs stay exactly where they are, underneath the\nsearch box. If your key is missing, your referrer restriction bites, your\nquota runs out, an ad blocker gets in the way, or Google has a bad\nafternoon, the checkout works precisely as it did before this plugin was\ninstalled. That is the one failure in this category that costs orders, and\nit is avoided by never replacing anything.<\/p>\n\n<h4>On the far side of Google's migration<\/h4>\n\n<p>Google has deprecated its old autocomplete widget in favour of\n    PlaceAutocompleteElement. This plugin uses the <strong>new<\/strong> element, so it ships\non the far side of that migration rather than needing a rewrite immediately.\nWhere the new element is not available it stands down, rather than falling\nback to the thing Google is removing.<\/p>\n\n<h4>Your key is not a secret, and we do not pretend it is<\/h4>\n\n<p>A Maps JavaScript key is handed to every shopper's browser \u2014 that is how it\nworks, and there is nowhere to hide it. So the field is not masked. What\nprotects it is an HTTP-referrer restriction in Google's own console, and the\nsettings screen says so right beside the field.<\/p>\n\n<h4>What you get<\/h4>\n\n<ul>\n<li>Autocomplete on the checkout and the My Account address editor<\/li>\n<li>Billing and shipping, each switchable<\/li>\n<li>Suggestions limited to the countries you sell to \u2014 up to five, Google's\nown limit \u2014 which lowers your Google bill<\/li>\n<li>Nothing loaded at all on a store with no key \u2014 or on a page with no\naddress on it, because that would be a paid Google call for nothing<\/li>\n<li>No data of yours or your shoppers' sent anywhere but Google<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h4>The full edition<\/h4>\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gatemi.com\/plugins\/address-autocomplete-for-woocommerce\/\">Gatemi Address Autocomplete for WooCommerce<\/a>\nis a separate plugin, sold on gatemi.com, that adds changing how Google's\naddress parts map onto your checkout fields, pinning a Maps version or\nregion, and a filter that limits autocomplete to the shoppers a store names.<\/p>\n\n<h3>External services<\/h3>\n\n<p>This plugin loads Google's Maps JavaScript API in your shoppers' browsers,\nusing <strong>your<\/strong> API key, so that they can search for their address. What is\nsent is what they type into the search box. This happens only on pages with\nan address form and only once you have entered a key.<\/p>\n\n<p>Service: Google Maps Platform \u2014 https:\/\/developers.google.com\/maps \u2014\nhttps:\/\/cloud.google.com\/maps-platform\/terms \u2014\nhttps:\/\/policies.google.com\/privacy<\/p>\n\n<p>The plugin itself contacts nothing else \u2014 no gatemi.com, no analytics,\nnothing.<\/p>\n\n<!--section=installation-->\n<ol>\n<li>Install and activate the plugin.<\/li>\n<li>Create a Google Maps Platform key with the Maps JavaScript API and the\nPlaces API enabled, and restrict it by HTTP referrer to your domain.<\/li>\n<li>Go to WooCommerce \u2192 Address Autocomplete and paste it in.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<!--section=faq-->\n<dl>\n<dt id=\"what%20happens%20if%20google%20is%20unavailable%3F\"><h3>What happens if Google is unavailable?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Nothing, from your shopper's point of view. The ordinary address fields are\nstill there and still work.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"who%20pays%20google%3F\"><h3>Who pays Google?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>You do, on your own key, for what your shoppers type. Switching autocomplete\noff on the address you do not need it for is the cheapest saving there is,\nand restricting suggestions to the countries you sell to is the next one.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"will%20my%20settings%20survive%20if%20i%20upgrade%20to%20the%20full%20edition%3F\"><h3>Will my settings survive if I upgrade to the full edition?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Yes.
