A text is read in minutes, which is why\n\"has it shipped?\" is the question shops answer most often.<\/p>\n\n<p>This plugin sends an SMS through your Meser 10 account when an order reaches a\nstatus you choose. You write the message for each status, and statuses you leave\nempty send nothing.<\/p>\n\n<h4>What it does<\/h4>\n\n<ul>\n<li>One message template per WooCommerce order status, in your own words.<\/li>\n<li>Placeholders for the order number, the customer's name, the total, the item count, the status and a link to the order.<\/li>\n<li>An optional alert to your own phone when a new order comes in.<\/li>\n<li>A note on the order recording that the text went, and to which masked number.<\/li>\n<li>A test send, so the credentials and the sender name can be proved before a customer is involved.<\/li>\n<li>A log of recent messages, showing the outcome and never the message body.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h4>Things it deliberately will not do<\/h4>\n\n<ul>\n<li>It never sends the same message twice for the same order and status, however many times WooCommerce fires the hook.<\/li>\n<li>It never texts customers about orders placed before you first switched sending on, so turning it on does not reach a backlog.<\/li>\n<li>It rejects a phone number it cannot read as a mobile rather than reshaping it into one that might belong to a stranger.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h4>Before you start<\/h4>\n\n<p>You need a Meser 10 account with SMS enabled, and both the API key and the\nnumeric User ID from it. Sending needs both - the key on its own is not enough.\nA sender name has to be approved on the Meser 10 side before it will show on the\nhandset instead of a number.<\/p>\n\n<p>Messages are charged per segment by Meser 10. A message in Hebrew or with an\nemoji fits 70 characters per segment rather than 160, so the settings screen\nshows the segment count under every template you write.<\/p>\n\n<h4>Consent<\/h4>\n\n<p>Order status updates are usually treated as service messages rather than\nmarketing, but the rule differs by country. There is a setting that restricts\nsending to customers who ticked a consent box at checkout, for shops whose rules\nrequire it.<\/p>\n\n<h3>External services<\/h3>\n\n<p>This plugin sends text messages through the Meser10 platform, an email and SMS sending service. A request is made only when an order reaches a status you have written a message for, when the shop alert is switched on and a new order arrives, or when you press the test send button. What is sent is the recipient's mobile number, the message text with its placeholders filled in from the order, the sender name, and your Meser10 API key and User ID for authentication. WooCommerce has to be active.<\/li>\n<li>Go to WooCommerce, then Meser 10 SMS.<\/li>\n<li>Enter the API key and User ID from your Meser 10 account.<\/li>\n<li>Send a test message to your own phone.<\/li>\n<li>Write a message for each order status you want customers told about.<\/li>\n<li>Switch \"Send messages\" on.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<!--section=faq-->\n<dl>\n<dt id=\"does%20this%20send%20marketing%20campaigns%3F\"><h3>Does this send marketing campaigns?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>No. It sends one message per order event. Campaigns are sent from Meser 10 itself.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"which%20countries%20does%20it%20send%20to%3F\"><h3>Which countries does it send to?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>It sends to Israeli mobile numbers. A number it cannot read as one is skipped and\nthe reason is written to the log and to the order notes.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"will%20it%20text%20everyone%20the%20moment%20i%20turn%20it%20on%3F\"><h3>Will it text everyone the moment I turn it on?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>No. The first time you switch sending on, the plugin records the moment, and\norders created before it are never texted.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"what%20happens%20if%20a%20message%20fails%3F\"><h3>What happens if a message fails?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>The order gets a note saying why, and the log records the outcome.
