If the backup option is disabled, original JPG\/PNG files are permanently deleted after conversion. We strongly recommend:<\/p>\n\n<ol>\n<li>Taking a full site backup before running a bulk conversion.<\/li>\n<li>Keeping the \"Backup originals\" option enabled (it is enabled by default) so you can restore files if needed.<\/li>\n<li>Testing on a staging site first if possible.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<p><strong>Server Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>Your server needs either the Imagick PHP extension (with WebP support) or the GD extension (with WebP support). URLs stored elsewhere (widgets, theme options, custom fields, some page builders) are not automatically updated.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"what%20if%20my%20server%20doesn%27t%20support%20webp%3F\"><h3>What if my server doesn't support WebP?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>The plugin checks for Imagick or GD with WebP support. If neither is available, an admin notice is shown with clear instructions.
