By default WordPress sends every email from wordpress@yourdomain.com<\/strong> with the\nsender name WordPress<\/strong>. Recipients see an address nobody recognises, and spam\nfilters treat it with suspicion.<\/p>\n\n

This plugin changes the WordPress sender email and the from name. Two fields, one\nsettings page, nothing else to configure.<\/p>\n\n

What it changes<\/h4>\n\n

  • The from email address<\/strong> on every email WordPress sends<\/li>\n
  • The from name<\/strong> shown in the recipient's inbox<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n

    It applies to password resets, new user notifications, comment notifications, and\nemail from contact form and WooCommerce plugins that send through WordPress.<\/p>\n\n

    How it works<\/h4>\n\n

    The plugin hooks the standard wp_mail_from<\/code> and wp_mail_from_name<\/code> filters. No\nfiles are modified and nothing is stored beyond the two settings. Deactivate it\nand WordPress returns to its own defaults immediately.<\/p>\n\n

    What it does not do<\/h4>\n\n

    It does not send email itself. If your email is not arriving at all, the problem\nis delivery rather than the sender address, and you need an SMTP plugin. Changing\nthe from address helps with how your email looks, and is often enough to keep it\nout of spam, but it cannot fix a server that is failing to send.<\/p>\n\n\n

      Go to Settings, then WP Default Mail. Enter the address you want in the Sender\nMail ID field and save. Every email WordPress sends then comes from that address.<\/p><\/dd>\n

      How do I change the sender name on WordPress emails?<\/h3><\/dt>\n

      The same screen has a Sender Name field. Whatever you enter there replaces\n\"WordPress\" in the recipient's inbox.<\/p><\/dd>\n

      Does this work with Contact Form 7, WPForms or WooCommerce?<\/h3><\/dt>\n

      Yes, for any plugin that sends through WordPress itself. Those plugins call\nwp_mail(), and this plugin filters the sender on that call. A plugin that sends\nthrough its own SMTP connection, bypassing WordPress, sets its own sender.<\/p><\/dd>\n

      Will this stop my emails going to spam?<\/h3><\/dt>\n

      Often it helps. A recognisable from address at your own domain looks far less\nsuspicious than wordpress@yourdomain. It is not a complete answer on its own:\nspam filtering also depends on the SPF and DKIM records for your domain.<\/p><\/dd>\n

      My emails are not arriving at all. Will this fix that?<\/h3><\/dt>\n

      No. That is a delivery problem, not a sender problem. Use an SMTP plugin to route\nyour email through a real mail server, and use this plugin alongside it to control\nhow the sender appears.<\/p><\/dd>\n

      What happens if I leave the fields empty?<\/h3><\/dt>\n

      WordPress uses its own defaults. The plugin only steps in once you have set an\naddress, and it ignores an address that is not valid.<\/p><\/dd>\n

      Does it work on multisite?<\/h3><\/dt>\n

      Yes. Settings are per site, so each site in the network has its own sender.<\/p><\/dd>\n\n<\/dl>\n\n\n
