An ad only appears once a matching, active campaign exists \u2014 an empty ad unit simply means no\nsuitable campaign is bidding at that moment, not an error.<\/p>\n\n
Every ad carries a clear \"Advertisement\" label with the advertiser's name, and can be reported by\nvisitors. Your credit balance (what you've earned so far) is visible directly on the plugin's\nsettings page.<\/p>\n\n

External services<\/h3>\n\n
This plugin connects to UCD Ads Network (ads.urbancraftdepartment.com) to serve ads and manage\nyour publisher account. It requires a free account on that service to function \u2014 without it, the\nplugin cannot show ads or earn credit.<\/p>\n\n
The following happens:<\/p>\n\n
\n- When you connect your account<\/strong> (Settings \u2192 UCD Ads Network): the API key you paste is sent to\nads.urbancraftdepartment.com to verify it and fetch your organization's name and credit balance.<\/li>\n
- When you list, create, or add an ad unit<\/strong>: your site's domain name and the ad unit's name\/\nsize are sent to ads.urbancraftdepartment.com, using your stored API key for authentication.<\/li>\n
- On every page view that includes a
[ucd_ad]<\/code> shortcode, widget, or Elementor block<\/strong>: the\nvisitor's own browser loads a small script directly from ads.urbancraftdepartment.com\n(\/ucd-ads.js<\/code> or \/ucd-ads-autoscale.js<\/code>) and requests an ad to display. As with any such\nrequest, the visitor's IP address, User-Agent, and the referring page URL are visible to\nads.urbancraftdepartment.com as part of that request \u2014 the same as loading an image or script\nfrom any other external site. This is the plugin's core function (serving and measuring ads);\nit cannot be disabled while still showing ads. No advertising cookies are set by this request.<\/li>\n- When a visitor clicks an ad<\/strong>, their browser is redirected through\nads.urbancraftdepartment.com\/v1\/click\/... to the advertiser's own site, so the click can be\nattributed and the advertiser's campaign charged.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n

\nI don't see an ad \u2014 is something broken?<\/h3><\/dt>\nNot necessarily. An ad unit only shows an ad when there's currently an approved, paid campaign\nthat matches your ad unit's exact size (or, for an auto-scaling ad unit, any size) and is within\nbudget and targeting. If none exists, the ad unit simply stays empty \u2014 that's normal, not a fault.<\/p><\/dd>\n
Do I need to fill in width and height myself?<\/h3><\/dt>\nNo. As soon as you pick or create an ad unit, the plugin automatically fetches the correct size\nfrom UCD Ads Network.<\/p><\/dd>\n
Can I use multiple ad units on one site?<\/h3><\/dt>\nYes, add as many as you like under Settings \u2192 UCD Ads Network, and use each one's own shortcode.<\/p><\/dd>\n
How and when do I get paid?<\/h3><\/dt>\nUCD Ads Network works with credit, not direct payout: every ad shown earns credit on your UCD Ad\nNetwork account, which is automatically deducted from your own next invoice there.
