A free SoloPay merchant account is required; the payment itself is processed by SoloPay, not by your WordPress site. See the "External services" section below for exactly what is sent where.

Key benefits

Sponsored gas - for supported tokens, networks, and checkout flows, SoloPay covers the network gas fee so customers do not need a native gas token.

Direct settlement - confirmed payments are sent directly to your merchant-designated wallet, without a separate payout queue.

Non-custodial - funds go directly to your merchant wallet. SoloPay never holds your money.

No additional provider review - SoloPay does not add a separate payment-provider review or payout-approval step for supported checkout flows. Verification required by a wallet, exchange, merchant policy, industry rule, or applicable law may still apply.

Who it's for

SoloPay is built for WooCommerce merchants who sell to Web3-native customers and want to accept stablecoin payments without the complexity of running blockchain infrastructure themselves.

How it works (3 simple steps)

The customer chooses SoloPay at checkout and places the order.

They are taken to a secure payment page that loads the SoloPay widget (popup on desktop, redirect on mobile) and pay with the supported ERC-20 token configured for your store, commonly USDC.

SoloPay confirms the payment on-chain and notifies your store via a signed webhook, which marks the order complete and emails the customer.

Learn more at solonetwork.io.

External services

This plugin connects to the SoloPay payment gateway, operated by Solo Network. The connection is required: without it no payment can be created or confirmed, and the plugin has no useful function. By configuring the plugin with your SoloPay merchant credentials you consent to this data exchange.

1. SoloPay payment widget - https://widget.solonetwork.io

When: each time a customer reaches the SoloPay payment page after placing an order, and clicks "Pay now". The request is made by the customer's browser, not by your server.

What is sent: your SoloPay public key, a per-attempt order reference (for example
wc-42-20260804101500-1-a1b2c3d4
), the order total, the store currency, the ERC-20 token contract address you configured, and the success and cancel URLs of your store.

What is not sent: no customer name, email address, phone number, billing address, shipping address, or cart contents.

2. SoloPay merchant API - https://gateway.solonetwork.io

When: after a payment, once when the customer returns to your store's order-received page, and once when SoloPay sends its webhook. The request is made server-to-server by your site.

What is sent: your SoloPay merchant API key and the order reference described above.

What is received: the payment status, the paid amount, the token symbol, the on-chain transaction hash, and the confirmation timestamp. The transaction hash and timestamp are stored as order meta so you have a payment record.

3. Incoming webhooks

SoloPay sends signed HTTP POST requests to
/wp-json/solopay/v1/webhook
on your site. Every request is verified with an HMAC-SHA256 signature and rejected if the signature or timestamp does not check out. No outbound data is involved.

Service documentation and legal terms:

Terms of Service: https://solonetwork.io/terms

Privacy Policy: https://solonetwork.io/privacy

Documentation: https://guide.solonetwork.io

Source code and build process

All JavaScript in this plugin is shipped in human-readable form. Nothing is minified or obfuscated.

The file
assets/js/solopay-widget.js
is the SoloPay widget SDK loader. It is a Rollup bundle, and its complete TypeScript source together with the build configuration is included with this plugin under
src/widget-js/
(MIT licensed). Nothing in
src/
is loaded or executed by WordPress; it is there so the shipped bundle can be verified and rebuilt.

Merchants do not need to run a build: the distributed plugin already contains the ready-to-use JavaScript. The following steps are only for developers and WordPress.org reviewers who want to reproduce and verify the bundled SDK (requires Node.js 16 or later):

cd src/widget-js

npm install

npm run build

Copy
dist/widget.js
over
assets/js/solopay-widget.js

Build tooling is Rollup 4 with
@rollup/plugin-typescript
and
@rollup/plugin-node-resolve
; see
src/widget-js/rollup.config.js
. Further notes are in
src/README.md
.

The files
assets/js/blocks.js
and
assets/js/payment-page.js
are hand-written plain JavaScript and need no build step.

Third-party assets

This plugin bundles the Quantico font (Regular, Italic, Bold, Bold Italic) by The Quantico Project Authors, licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. The full license text is included at
assets/fonts/OFL.txt
. The font files are served from your own site; no external font CDN is contacted.

In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins > Add New Plugin, search for SoloPay for WooCommerce, and click Install Now. Alternatively, download the ZIP from WordPress.org and install it using Upload Plugin.

Click Activate on the SoloPay for WooCommerce plugin. WooCommerce must be installed and active.

Go to WooCommerce > Settings > Payments, enable SoloPay, and click Manage.

Enter your Public Key, Webhook Secret, Merchant API Key, and Token Address (the ERC-20 contract you accept, e.g. USDC). These are available in your SoloPay Merchant Dashboard at solonetwork.io. The Merchant API Key is required: the plugin uses it server-side to verify the paid amount before completing an order.

Save changes. The plugin runs against the SoloPay production (mainnet) environment; there is no test-mode toggle (see the FAQ on testing).

Setting up the webhook

In WordPress, open WooCommerce > Settings > Payments > SoloPay > Manage and copy the Webhook URL displayed there. Depending on your permalink settings it looks like
https://yourstore.com/wp-json/solopay/v1/webhook
(pretty permalinks) or
https://yourstore.com/?rest_route=/solopay/v1/webhook
(plain permalinks).

Open the SoloPay Merchant Dashboard, go to Settings > Webhooks, and paste that URL.

Copy the generated webhook secret into the plugin's Webhook Secret field and save.

Copy the Merchant API Key (x-api-key) from the dashboard into the plugin's Merchant API Key field and save. The plugin uses this key to confirm the paid amount before completing an order. Completion happens when the buyer returns to the success page, and also via the webhook (which covers buyers who do not return). For the webhook to fire, its endpoint must be reachable from SoloPay (use a public URL or a tunnel during local testing).

Do I need a SoloPay account?

Yes. The plugin is a client for the SoloPay payment service and cannot process payments on its own. Creating a merchant account at solonetwork.io is free.

What currencies are supported?

Your store keeps its normal WooCommerce currency. At checkout the order total is sent to SoloPay together with that currency, and the customer pays in the ERC-20 token you configure in the plugin (USDC is the common choice). SoloPay converts the fiat amount to the token using its real-time price.

Do customers need a crypto wallet?

Yes. Customers pay from a compatible Web3 wallet using the supported ERC-20 token configured for your store, commonly USDC. For supported payment flows, SoloPay sponsors the gas fee so customers do not need a separate native gas token.

Are there transaction fees?

There are no gas fees for your customers. Any service fees are defined by your SoloPay merchant agreement and shown in your dashboard.

Which blockchain networks are supported?

This release uses the single ERC-20 token contract you configure in the plugin settings (USDC is the common choice). Network and contract management is handled in your SoloPay Merchant Dashboard.

What customer data is shared with SoloPay?

None of your customers' personal data. Only the order reference, the order total, the store currency, the token address, and your store's return URLs are sent. See the "External services" section for the full breakdown.

Is there a test mode?

The plugin runs against the SoloPay production (mainnet) environment and there is no test-mode setting, because SoloPay selects the environment by endpoint rather than by key prefix (both environments issue pk_live_ keys). Developers who need to test against a testnet (such as Polygon Amoy) can point the plugin at the development endpoints by defining two constants in
wp-config.php
, without editing any plugin file:

define( 'SOLOPAY_WIDGET_URL', 'https://widget.dev.solonetwork.io' );
define( 'SOLOPAY_API_BASE_URL', 'https://gateway.dev.solonetwork.io' );

Is it safe?

Yes. SoloPay is non-custodial, so funds settle directly to your wallet. Every webhook is signed with HMAC-SHA256 and verified by the plugin before any order is updated, with replay protection to prevent tampering. An order is only completed after the paid amount has been re-checked server-side against the order total.

Does the plugin work with the block-based checkout?

Yes.
